why doesnt berbatov ever take free kicks around the box at the lane, i have only ever seen him take one and that was against west hame where we scored and that was at upton park.

i can understand if Bale was playing but he has not for most of the season.

Jenas always hits the wall or goes miles over, huddlestone just smashes them into the wall.

Good point GP - baffles me too

none of our three main strikers seem to take free kicks in these situs (or rarely anyway) - imagine Ronaldo's tally without free kicks (ok it'd still be amazing :)

this is the one area where spurs need to improve immensely, delivery is poor sometimes and i don't understand how you can be poor if you practise these in the training ground. I'd also like to see more shooting from outside the box, everyone scores belters against us whereas we hardly do the same. Keane against chelsea was a great example but we don't do it often enough.

I noticed in the CC final that we had a bunch of freekicks around the box and every time somebody different took it. I was thinking surely it would make more sense for 1 player to take all of them and get his eye in!

Still, Bale is back next season!

They let him take one v Wet Spam at WHL cos if he scored it would've been his hattrick, sadly it just went over the crossbar, but he has been grossly underused as a Free Kick taker this season and it's totally baffling.

I don't agree at all that delivery is poor. There have been number of goals the last couple of months we'we scored from free-kicks. The Bentdner own-goal, both Woodgate goals, both Berba goals against W'ham to name some goals.

I agree though that when we are shooting from these free-kicks it's very poor. I never expect us to score from these free-kicks.

O'Hara's free kicks are even worse!
Seems to think he is Mr J Wilkinson with his funny side on run up, only to hit row ZZ

Yes berba should take them, but i think he is too reserved and laid back to really push in and tell the others to fook off he wants to take it.

The delivery has been good from jenas and hudd for those freekicks into the box. But both of their freekick shots are crap.

Id like to see kaboul have some more if he plays, he just belts them!

Mate he'd be lucky to hit the paxton or park lane end!

If he scored he'd probably strip naked, run down the tunnel, down the high road never to be seen again.

let zokora take them if theyre about 60yards from goal. He might have a chance of hitting the target then with one of his up'n'unders

That's exactly what he should do though, that's what I'm screaming anyway.

And we're talking about the FKs just outside the box where a direct shot on goal is made, not the Free Kicks into the box for the likes of Berba and Woody to head.

Infact Ramos seems to want Berba to win headers all the time, his skill is in his feet on the ball. So defo make him number 1 FK taker whilst we still have him. At least it might increase his transfer fee if he scores a few spectacular ones.

I think Berba's diffidence does stop him taking some free kicks - but surely JR can say say 'listen - Berbs takes the free kicks that are 'shootable' ok - '

he's already got the pen job cos he's the best - give him the 20 yarders - or at least say the first or second one

If one pays attention, it can be seen the Berbs doesn't strike the ball with a lot of power. He tends to guide the ball goalwards relying on touch and accuracy. Even the free-kick he scored last season from outside the box was not a power shot. So I don't think he's a good candidate for taking free kicks outside the box; though he might be able to pull off a urprise now and then.

Since Ziegler left, we really hadn't have one who's got a mighty shot.

Berbatov has taken quite a few since the Spammers game and none have been anywhere near as good.

All that can be said is get well soon Gareth.

We say the same every time we get a free kick around the box. What I don't understand is why Berbatov doesn't demand to take them more frequently. It would be OK if any of the others ever came remotely close but they don't. Surely law of averages says that he should take the odd one.
