I was at work today and thinking about how few English teams have been in the Champions League proper and how few teams have actually won the premiership over the last decade or so.

As we all know the top level football in the UK has been dominated by only 4 teams for such a long time and no one else has stepped up a level to take them on.

Things are starting to change however and Spurs are at the forefront of this change , we are in a position to be constantly challenging and winning top 4 positions in the EPL and getting valuable experience in the CL. Add to this the fact that our team is now nicely settled and are growing together we should continue to have many good seasons of competing at the highest level to look forward to with the potential to win the EPL / CL given time.

How do you feel we are going to progress over the next few years and will other clubs be able to join us?

Manchester City obviously have a great chance in the long term to make a huge impact on English football but will clubs like Everton / Villa (ignoring last weeks result muhahaha) really be able to make that step up and compete for the EPL and CL titles. Will WE?

The Premiership will be a better league for having more teams capable of getting top 4 positions and CL football and hopefully these teams will be able to push forward and really contest the league title year after year.

IN Spurs I have blind faith of 30 years + guiding me but I truly believe we can start the revolution and bring some more clubs along with us to challenge the established Sky 4

(this is probably my longest post ever so I best go sit down now. anyone! )

City and Spurs within the next decade. I don't think any other team is even close. Liverpool used to be a contender but I can't help thinking they are now in the decline.

They've only had one bad season, now they have a new manager and its only a matter of time before they get new owners that will bankroll them too.

I dont think we will win the premiership until we get a massively rich backer. Not that i am slating Levy, i think he has done a great job - however to win the title you need ££. I think Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea will dominate the premiership for the forseeable future with the likes of Spurs, Arsenal and Liverpool all fighting for 4th. I think our biggest problem is keeping the likes of Bale long term - if we can then the sky is the limit, but i can see him going in a couple of years to the likes of Man Utd or a big foreign club.

I dont think the clubs like Villa and Everton will compete near the top 4 - they have had a good couple of years and have found some bargains (particularly Everton) but neither are clubs with the ambition to challenge for the title imo

United = period of relative decline, comin' soon.
Citeh = throwing money at it for very good, but not top of the range players, to replace very good players who were not allowed to settle, because they know their money want count for half as much when the new financial regulations kick in. They will be thereabouts, but not soas to intimidate us too much.
Chelsea = the real candidates for No.1 spot - but an ageing team, and Ancelotti still not proven in my book (hasn't proven who knows which players to buy; hsan't proven that it wasn't the familiarity of his old seasoned pros as much as anything, last season).
Liverpool = Roy will consolidate them this season, but not more than that.
ArseScum = Whinger's time is up. Found out in the transfer market. Never been able to accept that just because he doesn't like the fact that big physical teams dominate the Goons and the refs don't protect the, he should actually buy players to coping with it.

We have a genuine chance this season...an outside chance, but genuine, none the less.

Chelsea have scored 12 goals and have 6 points, but who have they beat. We have mullered Citeh (without scoring:bang:), and gained 3 points at what is fast becoming one of the most difficult and physically demanding away grounds to go to.

1) Very few teams have won the Premiership full stop. 4 different teams in 17 seasons. Is this because of the money or has the title often been won by so few teams spread over two decades?

2) To be honest that was always going to happen. At the beginning when it was one CL place, Man Utd dominated. When it turned to two we got the Wenger V SAF wars and when it was four it took a couple of years to form but it was always going to create a division of elite. It needed Levy's long term planning and Man City's money to disrupt the status quo.

3) Definitely, with a settled team and strong finances we can look to build rather than having to sell our best players when we get a good offer. If Modric, Bale, Lennon and others can reach their potential at the same time then we will have a terrific side capable of anything.

4) I think we'll build steadily and Harry has the experience of blending young players into a team in the right way. Expect Modric and Huddlestone to form a great centre midfield pairing and Bostock to start making a name for himself.

5) Everton and Villa have no chance under their current models. They've built solid teams capable of top six at best maybe even nicking 4th if lucky. They don't have the finances or long term plan to compete. We can and will though.

6) Now Liverpool have lost way a little there's going to be an interesting battle for top four and once again ourselves and Man City will be looking to form a new elite. With the plans of teams having to lives within their means soon enough there'll be a sky four.

7) definitely, my faith is no longer blind and I believe Bale, Modric, Lennon and Huddlestone are a great blend in midfield and all are potentially world class players. With Sandro, Bostock and others we really are going to be a match for most in the Prem maybe as soon as this season.

8) have a nice sit down

If, and realistically it is only an if at present, we attain CL status again next season then I believe we will have every chance of sustaining it for a number of years because we will have a better chance of buying the quality players we want. The players will have more belief, realising that it's not a one-off.

Hopefully within a year the stadium plans will have been agreed and work started - which once completed will bring in more cash.

Once we achieve continued success more potential backers will want to be involved. Not saying I want DL to go because he has brought the club forward no-end but he may have even more cash at his disposal.

But in short this season, and perhaps this game on Wednesday, could be the biggest in the clubs history. It will certainly shape the future for you don't know when such an opportunity will happen again.

They've had several bad seasons, but Gerrard has rescued them many times in the past and now Torres is doing it but they can't always do it. They're relying on Torres now, without him they're nowhere near as good.

Spurs will win the EPL within the next 5 seasons. We were what? 2 losses to wolves, defeat to Stoke at home, Drawing to Hull at home, failing to get 3 points at Everton from being champions?

You would have thought with some astute signings, whilst keeping together what is a very strong and young squad (That will mature and get better as it peaks) we are not far off a title challenge.

having a massively rich backer won't make any difference when uefas new rules start to be enforced next season so we have missed the boat on this one. This is the reason why man city are throwing their cash around willy nilly NOW

If we get a couple of top quality players before the window shuts - Luis Fabiano and Lassana Diarra for instance - we do have a shout this year.

Citeh mixing it with the big boys will help, as Chelsea and United will be focusing a lot of attention on them, I think there will be a 5 or 6 team mini league at the top.

if we don't believe, then how are the players meant to?

Hope we can, but will be pleased if we can improve on our points total for last season and have a good go in the CL and other cups. Winning something will be a bonus.

And let's not forget (as it is another 'airbrushed out of history' fact - oh, no, Rafa-syndrome): they actually were booted out of the Top 4 by Everton the year they somehow managed to win the CL - so, without that they would have had a bad season. And the authorites decided, just 'cos it was Liverpool, like, that they would bend the rules and let them play in CL. Imagine how much money they would have lost the following year if they had missed out on CL football. Then attemptto estimatethe effect of this loss would have had on them and match it with the deterioration they have shown 'having been granted that stay of exection' - they have been on borrowed time for a while now.
