Yep he should definitely be able to claim.

They have admitted liability which means it was not an accident. The tackle must have been rediculous,

jesus, it must have been some tackle.

Makes me wonder whether people like Terry Dixon would look to do the same.

Is it really career ending though? Look at Cisse.... didn't he break his leg in two places on the second attempt?

It depends on the type of tackle. If it was like the Roy Keane tackle on Alf-Inge Haland, where there is intent to hurt the player then he should be able to claim. Any other type of tackle players shouldn't be able to claim.

It must have been bad if they have accepted liability, but then again football is a contact sport and you have to accept the physical nature of it. I doubt he will get anywhere near the millions he could have earned, but it will be interesting to see what they decide

it is good if this leads to other young players being able to claim for career ending malicious tackles + i believe players should obtain a licence when they turn pro, and if they go on to play football in a dangerous way the football authorities should be able to revoke that license for given periods, in the worst cases, for life.

+ seeing as footballers are idolised by children around the world, they could even lose their licenses in cases such as j barton, in his case it would have been good to see a 2 year ban from pro football. he is lucky these laws are not around... yet.
