Players don't think like that though. Bale will believe he's good enough to earn a starting place. And if he doesn't straight away then he will always have an enormous wage and the likelihood of a league or cup medal to console him.

I don't blame him for wanting to go. I just wish he would have made his intentions clear back in July so we could have this behind us. It's getting late in the window and replacements will be harder to come by as other teams ( unlike us) very rarely sell their best players at the death.

And weeks ago, Bale registered The Heart 11 as a patent.

He's gone, why can't anyone make sense of that?

I would expect that DL is making sure that the Brand Bale money gets to THFC in the background.

It's not a case of making sense of it tho because nobody knows other than the top boys at Spurs and Madrid.... you, me and everybody else are all just speculating, nothing to make sense of other than rumour

I reckon Bale will pay 300 games scoring 200 goals for Madrid, win the balon d'or and then, THEN some of you might say "I think Bale might be going to Madrid ya know"

in cases where there is obviously something dirty going on like was posted in those spanish tweets translated earlier, the penalty should be the agent's fees that will really stop it

Wow, just scrolled through 419 pages of this. After the last game of the season Graham Roberts said Bale had signed a new contract. That was the last I've heard about the situation. Would I be rite in saying that this didn't happen?

I can see it now, the very end of the transfer window Bale is indeed about to be sold but only at the last minute we realise that in doing so we breach the homegrown rule and cancel the sale. Its the sort of thing that usually would happen TO us.

Ok back to reality.

That patent is only valid in the UK, has no standing in Europe

Have you some factual ITK we've not heard or are you just making your prediction. It's all speculation and media hype.

Why only patent it in the uk? Can't be that much more to have it done for the rest of the world (asia would be his biggest market).

Bale does not have a patent at all. He has a trade mark registration. Surprisingly it is only a uk registration and no application seems to have been made for Europe wide protection.

oh Gareth you are putting us poor fans through hell

I don't think so. Levy could be holding Bale back by showing that we mean business with our new signings. By the time Bale could be let go on our terms (2nd Sept) we could be top of the league with 9 points* and comfortable in the Europa league qualifiers, not a bad carrot to dangle under his nose.

*Of course we could be bottom with no points from 3 games.
