To be fair - banging a supermodel, body of a Herculean God, arguably the best player on the planet? I want to be like Ronaldo.

I don't.

If this happens it better be a fee that makes us look like we milked those fuckers for all they're (not) worth!!

None of this pissing £86m with £20m up front. or undisclosed bull shit.

And I want a stadium announcement next day.

Just pissed off cos my (Spanish) old man's been baiting me with every signing saying "spending the Bale money" and I just wanted to Hutton his sorry fat ass. So if it transpires that that is the case... :banghead:

I am seriously gonna be so fucked off if Bale goes.

Even with, assuming we do end up with Willian & Lamela, the glaringly obvious improvement to our 'squad'? No more depending upon 1 player to provide the necessary spark. No more sitting there thinking "I really fucking hope Bale can save our arses", when we're clearly unable to break down teams?

I don't 'want' to lose Bale either, mate. However, IF he wants to go, and IF our 'unit' will be better for it, let him go. This is Tottenham Hotspur FC, not Gareth Bale FC.. COYS

That's a shame, TGL. I can't say I will in all fairness. If we were in Arsenal's current situation with this Bale saga going on I would be, but we've done such good business this window so far.

I'm sad to see him go in a way, he's our best player by far, but that's football. The club will always be there and no player is bigger than our club, so we just move on and continue fighting. As far as I'm concerned we've had a fantastic window so far, the best I think I've ever seen in my 27 years of being a Spurs fan. I honestly believe that even without Bale, and with Willian coming in, we've got a stronger squad than we did last season. Not by a lot as Bale was a beast last year, but it's got a lot more depth to it and a higher quality of starters and backups.

If he stays I'll be very excited to see how we get on. If he leaves and we bring in Lamela, which I reckon we will, we'll still be in a fantastic position and he's a wonderful talent that has the potential to be just as good, if not better, than Bale.

I'm just begining to cave in and believe that he's off.

Can someone just answer 1 naive question - how has Bale managed to chat to Ancelotti to find out how he will fit into that team and the role he will play. Cause he shouldn't have been allowed to talk to them without our agreement -yes?

I think it's safe to say that the agent has been a messenger between the parties.

I used to be horrified at the prospect of Bale going, because I imagined we'd be weaker without him. but now, we're effectively getting half a team (a bloody good one at that) in return for him, I can't see how or why anyone would still have a problem with him leaving.

half a team....only Barca could walk away from that for Messi and not look crazy, and that's because he's a once in a lifetime player, and possibly the greatest ever. Bale is a brilliant player, but he's not anywhere that level. we'll live, we'll move on, and we'll be better.

bye-bye Gareth, thanks so much for last season and 2010/11, and most importantly for funding this great new team we'll have.

I still hope we keep Bale. Even if we get £85M for him I won't be happy. This is the 2nd year in a row that Real have destabilised and stolen our best player. Getting Coentrao won't make it feel any better as Real basically want rid anyway and we'll be doing them a favour. I want them to feel some pain so that they don't think we are just a feeder club that they can come to anytime they feel like it and get their own way.

If Bale is determined to go then it is hard to stop him; but not for £85M but for £70M + Morata take it or leave it. Let Real know how it feels to lose a player they don't want to let go. If Real say no it shows Bale they don't really want him and it will be easier to keep him happy if he stays another year.

Stolen best player - yes
Destablised - maybe

But it's a great fee that we've capitalised on. If we get Lamela I think it's fair to say we've made great use of the fantastic fee

forget Real, they'll do what's best for them. let's focus on what's best for us.

we've bought Valencia's best player, and will soon be getting Roma's and arguably Anzhi's too. circle of life...

I'm sorry, but I'll be extremely surprised if Bale isn't sold to RM soon.

  • There are enough sources suggesting he wants to go
  • There is evidence RM (Perez and Ancelotti) want him
  • He has a foot injury that happens to keep him out until the end of the TW
  • He has said nothing (or has been told he cannot say anything)
  • Our spending is unprecedented
  • We happen to be signing / near to signing / linked with players who could play in his position

Of course there are views otherwise, some who say this is a Joe Lewis loan, some who say this is TV money and some who point to us getting big deals done before FFP comes in. AVD (and DL by proxy) have said he's not for sale.

But I'm firmly of the opinion that he's off; we've asked him to be patient, keep quiet and come to training so that we are not quoted silly prices for players; that we have already agreed a fee with RM and may be negotiating method of payment (cash / installments / player exchange); that whilst he may have a foot injury I don't see why he wouldn't attend any of our matches.

If we sign Willian for €30m (£25m) that would take our spending to c. £85m. Add Lamela for another €30m or so that'd take it up to £110m! IF we're in for a LB and a CB as well as the young talent we may be after (Hallilovic and Nedelev) then it seems like a rather massive outlay for a club not in the Champions' League with a 36k stadium...

I want him to stay, but accept that it's far better that we strengthen the squad early and with excellent players than force him to stay against his wishes risking losing this kind of money.

Good post, mate. The bit in bold, though, I've honestly never actually heard anything from Ancelotti that says he actually 'wants' Bale? If anything it's been as though he's more than happy with what he's got, happy with his young new signings, whilst Bale is sort of being forced upon him by Perez.

Now The Hutton is really rising in me, as my old fella (not that one ;) ) is saying that he's heard it on the Spanish vid de uva that it's been done for... wait for it... £80m...

Seriously fucked off if that's the case.

And if it was, no doubt in the days after we'd get some bullshit about it actually being more, but they didn't want to upset Ronaldo by taking away his "highest price tag in history" title.

Queue Ozil being linked to Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal. No doubt if they cant offload Di Maria, Ozil will end up at one of them come January. Somehow i get the feeling that Bale to RM will bight us in the ass, not just from the point of view that we are loosing our best player, but also one or there fantastic castoffs will end up at one of our rivals.
Yes Khedira to Chelsea

Might be heading into town tomorrow, meaning visits to HMV and Game. Would it be worth asking staff if they know anything of FIFA's cover being changed before release next month?
