Interesting... That's considerably less than I've heard Ronaldo is after per week. Less than half, in fact.

Assuming this is all after tax though?

190k after tax and 30% image rights! Are you telling me Ronaldo wants 380-400k?

I'm telling you that is what I've heard but I'm not saying where from - treat it as gossip and rumour - but yeah...
am not claiming ITK - but I don't think that label means that much.

If you look through my old posts I've been saying the Ronaldo deal is a huge sticking point in the Bale transfer.

But the way the press are banging on about it - it looks like I'm completely wrong.

I still don't know why Madrid are so hung up on Bale, he's a very good player but has only been fantastic for one season and that was down to him having a free role and being the focus of our attack... Both of which he won't be at madrid. The fact is, most clubs can only have one figurehead otherwise it becomes confusing to the greater media, Neymar is never going to usurp Messi's place as icon of Braca just as Bale won't from Ronaldo. I personally think that he will get more media attention in the long run as a Spurs player then as a Madrid player, if Spurs continue to grow that it. For sure he be plastered everywhere for the next few months in Spain but Madrid won't be able to have Ronaldo and Bale as figureheads... It just won't work. If Madrid try to push Bale as the new big star Ronaldo will get pushed down the pecking order and will be pissed. If Bale goes to Madrid now I would not be surprised if Ronaldo asks to leave next summer.

What if they thought he might ask to leave next summer anyway, though... Or he's negotiating his current deal as the figurehead of Real Madrid and wants a sharing of image rights across everything, similar to Beckham's deal with the LA galaxy.

The contract Ronaldo wants is absolutely massive. Kobe Bryant, Alex Rodrigues massive. One of the biggest in team sports.
They need a backup and who else is gonna do it.

Make no mistake, Gareth Bale will tear up that league and he's a likeable guy who scores wonderful goals. They want him bad, and they want Ronaldo to commit.

I had always thought they'd make sure that Ronaldo signed a new deal first, but that was an assumption on my part.

I'll be sad to see Gareth go - I think he's a cracking lad and the way he's improved year on year is remarkable.

That being said - it would be funny if they didn't win the first 20 odd games he played.

LATEST TRANSFER GOSSIP
Gareth Bale's proposed world-record move to Real Madrid has temporarily been put on hold, according to Press Association Sport.
Reports had suggested that the Tottenham forward would finalise a £93m transfer to the Spanish capital on Friday. But Press Association Sport is reporting that Spurs are unwilling to sanction Bale's move until they have signed at least one new player to fill the Welshman's position.

Fuck them Levy, Fuck them hard. You know what, Bale plays in the hole, we sign Lamela, Bale will get over it, Lewis will pick up the tab and we tell the world he was never for sale anyway.

Not that fussed about Bale, the warrior, either way - even if I think it's wise of him to not leave for another year.
As long as we get Lamela in 100% (not to fussed about Willian either for that price - and with an agent like Kia around; that smells more trouble in a year or two anyway) and a few others to improve our squad, and Levy get at price that won't feel underwhelming - we can live with it as a club.

It was worse losing Modric, the poet; he made every player around him better - and thereby Spurs better;
Bale "just" made Spurs better by some gamechanging moments of magic, and I trust the longterm work from AVB with the team so we won't miss those as much.

But I fear that Bale will return to PL in a year or two, so Levy should get a clause in so we get a huge % of the fee if RM sells bale back to PL in the next 5 years.
