If he stays he will have to knuckle down with three years still on his contract he can't afford to tarnish any brand he hopes to build. If he goes and we get the money we want then OK. What I expect though is that Levy will wait until as late as possible to sign off on him. That way it makes sure other teams in the chain have to do their business very quickly

I know it's tough but never mind eh. He's doing what he needs to in his mind. If he was shithouse we'd be looking to unceremoniously dump him off to Stoke or someone else ourselves. No loyalty. Swings and roundabouts.

It's best to never get too attached to players because in this respect, not a single one of them is special. I'm not sure they could afford to be either.

The only shock here is that some, after everything we've seen in football and at this club specifically over the last 6 or 7 yrs, are in any way shocked a footballer might play up in order to get a transfer away.

Agreed. Loyalty works both ways. I guess when you've been at a club for 6 years and seen your mates left out of squads, loaned out and then pimped out and shipped away to other clubs, despite them having years left on their deal then I guess your loyalty to that organisation can wane somewhat.

I agree Pinkster. Which is why I am no longer in love with football anymore, and don't allow myself to get attached to players. The game has gone shit.

I mean I love the club, it's in my blood, I'm 38 and a 3rd generation fan, my boys will be too. So it's hard to lose that, but I hate the state of the game, and it's only going to get worse.

If we lose him to a £75m fee, with no players coming back!! Fuck me, I will be furious.
that's the thing - it's crazy money and the game is losing its touch on reality, but i'm with you. Anything under £85m would seem to be us caving in at this point in time.

He thinks he is now though. I agree, I can't get my head around the esquire stuff. Look at him in the kit adverts - looks a right weirdo.

lol lots of fan anger now, think this is kinda of the point.

make the club and fans dislike you, making it easier to be sold. Probably ordered a ton of pink clothes on purpose just to piss you lot off further :D

If he really has refused to train (which seems likely although unconfirmed) then Im very dissappointed in him, I didnt think he would go down that route. i hope Levy sticks to his guns, the team we could have had if we weren't a selling club doesnt bear thinking about.

ALso, why does Gordon Taylor need to comment? What has it to do with him, Bale is contracted to Spurs and until Real meet their demands it is Spurs decision.

All the media who are pushing for Bale to go to Real will be the same ones bemoaning the fact that the EPL cannot attract the worlds best players like Spain and Germany (probably after English clubs flop in the CL), then when we have one, they can't wait to push him abroad!

Keep him and stick 2 fingers up to the world...

keep him and chuck him in the reserves, untill he shows a bit of fucking respect!!! if it wasnt for AVB sticking him in a free role he certainly wouldnt be worth circa 100 million euros, and he certainly isnt going to play that position for RM, the geezers a disrespectfull idiot!!!

my opinion, at least with berba and modric we knew were we stood from day one!!

Levy cannot and in my opinion, will not be made to look foolish again. If these "sky sources" are to be believed, g b is gunna look a fool if Madrid don't come up with the money and he's gotta turn up at the lane. Sick to death of it now, great last season and a half from Gareth, but my allegiance and love is for Tottenham Hotspur. No way the great Bill Nicholson would have put up with his antics.

I am proper fed up now. Sick of reading and hearing about Bale. After last season, his bond with AVB, every interview he ever gave, I did not expect him to act like this.

Disgrace in my opinion, as others have mentioned, Soldado trained before his transfer and Lamela seems to be doing the same. I understand he wants to leave but the transfer will happen regardless of whether he trains or not. He needs to show the club and AVB some respect imo.

I think you need to stop watching SSN and believing it as fact. Talkport talked to his agent yesterday and said there is no dispute, AVB gave him the ok to miss training. It's more likely he's being told by the club to stay away until it's over, don't want him affecting the team with the big derby this Sun.

IF he ends up staying I bet most of you will love him again like nothing happened.
I'll love him because he'll put a large sum in my betting account, some of which will be going to SC.

Sick of the whole saga now though.

is there actually any hard evidence that Bale is playing silly buggers...as far as I can see from all the reports, it's all 'Sky sources', or 'sky understands' or 'so and so in Madrid says this'

I'm not prepared to write off GB as a turncoat judas...not just yet.

I don't think he'll sulk, and based on this rather loose belief, we don't need to sell Bale (if the purchases made thus far aren't using his transfer revenue), therefore our position is this game of poker is very strong.

Real Madrid have made all the noises, printed the shirts, set up the stage - they will look complete dicks to the world if they don't sing along to Levy's tune, so they will somehow have to meet our demands. The ball is their court. Unfortunately we may have to sweat this one out until Monday. Which is exhausting.
