I'd probably sell for £85m + Di Maria + Coentrao

And they can pay for 50% of those two players' wages

Id take Coentrao not sure about Di maria not convinced how he would fair in premiership especially with his like for diving and rolling around on the floor at the slightest touch.

No. The Guardian aren't in the same league as Marca and the fucking Star. This won't have been made up out of thin air.

They don't tell lies? The articles are a distortion of what happened last year with Modric. Change the names to protect the innocent!

If anyone still thinks that Bale isn't after a move at this point; can I, to borrow a phrase from Mr Henry, borrow some of what you're smoking?

@£85m + we'd be daft to turn it down.

Thats just silly money - I also doubt Real have got it.

They don't even need Bale - which makes it even more bizarre.....

Crazy night!

Weird this.

I was more concerned with the idea that Bale might not sign a new contract and Levy would be pragmatically thinking selling him now would be the best (££) thing to do.

Now all the press are pitching it the other way round as in Bale wants out and Levy won't budge.

WTF?

Obviously a quote from Bale coming in the next few days about wanting out. Seen it all before, very predictable.

So many conflicting reports this week regarding transfer fees, quotes, one day Bale is happy, the same day Bale is unhappy, bid submitted, no bid has been submitted, AVB says contract talks are ongoing, papers say Bale doesn't want to sign a new contract, Madrid can't afford Bale atm, Madrid submit 1127381 millon GBP bid.

I know what I choose to believe in, but it's about time the club makes a statement. All this noise can't do any good to either the fans or the players.
And F*ck off Madrid, seriously.

I feel that players like Di Maria & Coentrao must be in someway included in the deal, obviously with some money on top (£50-55m?). Wages and convincing them to come could be an issue, but I think RM would want to force the move.

That at least solves two positions (RW & LB), allowing us to improve the squad in other areas with the remaining money.

Yes, I know this is optimistic!

The last thing I want is Bale to be sold. It would mean its been an awful transfer window.

However, IF he hands in a transfer request - that's the moment I'd rather he was gone.

Won't make the situation any nicer, as we'll be ultimately massively weaker, but the time he doesn't want to play for us any more is the time I give up on him.

Just saying...if anyone didn't think Benteke was after a move when he demanded a transfer...

I'm not saying that I am not concerned that we wouldn't take the money or that he is not interested, but why now? Bale had to know this was a possibility, and even more than that, so why go through with the ea cover, the under armour and NBC ads?

My guess is this is his agent getting the most money possible from tottenham this year and insuring that we get him some support for the cl run.

Did AVB know this was coming this evening, perhaps that Bale's camp was going to move this up a gear?

I am getting sick and tired of people succumbing to rubbish reporting. Marca started it, its been simmering for a couple of weeks, now they have, in my view, blatantly told lies, which they will say is protected sources, no quotes, regurgitated crap from last year putting Modrics quotes into Bales mouth, and now all the English press have jumped on Marcas bandwagon and are being played along, and they have got a gullible audience.

If I am proven wrong then I will humbly apologise to all an sundry.

I agree, I think we can even squeeze a bit more out of it.

There is a long way in the transfer window to go, and I'm sure we want to conclude our major business before the deed is done for obvious reasons.
