Sorry but on a world scale Bale is being put in the class of Neymar as being a superstar to compare with Ronaldo and Messi. Isco, though an excellent player, does not have the global draw that Bale is starting to have - just look at ad campaigns featuring him
And yet the Madrid fans aren't fussed. They think its too much money, don't see where he fits in the team, and don't see him as someone to change the set up to accommodate. I find that is interesting.

Once again: Why do we believe Real Madrid couldn't pay? They make profit every year and when they want to spend big it was never a problem there in spain. We have a war chest but Madrid haven't? wat?

Worrying. Very bad feeling about this. Hopefully it won't affect other transfers and the team.

Because it would have to be in a large lump sum, installments wouldn't cut it if they do indeed owe Spurs for Modric. They have been supported by the banks for so long. Do they have 150m in a lump sum? I doubt it, ALL the itk suggests they can't afford him. Comments from people like Storts saying they can't afford his right leg, for example.

Otherwise it's what is known as an 'opinion'. Think about how Spurs would benefit from losing Bale and only getting cash in dribs and drabs - they don't, that's how. They might benefit from 80m up front and then another xM to come. But do Real have that? it's unlikely. Which is why, once again, I have been trying to point out that they have sold players to balance their spending this summer and the next move is important because it frees up some cash to put together a bid. You can check the RO but I think Roger Morgan said similar, not really sure now.

Like anyone, he's worth what someone is willing to pay for him.

of course, Andy Carroll was once worth £35M :)facepalm: for about 30 mins) but that was a bit like driving a new car off the forecourt only Liverpool didn't lose £5k when the odometer hit 1 mile. They lost £20M :)

RM's ego is what has driven up the price, guess they don't like being told no by a smaller club. Then they believe they can spunk £80M+ on Bale and not lose out.

I suppose we're going to know what Bale is thinking, when we play Monaco.

If he's there, and playing, he would clearly not be throwing his toys out of the pram.

If he's still 'injured', then I'd start to fear about where his head is at, even if we did dig our heels in and keep him.

I don't know anyone from a neutral point that values Bale at more than £50m. They all believe no one would turn down the suggested £100m. It's different being a Spurs fan and seeing him week in, week out, but trying to look at it from say, a Liverpool supporters pespective - Suarez scored more goals and got more assists, played less games and Arsenal are baulking at paying anything over £40m. For Real to offer in excess of £80m is absurd. That's more than Cristiano Ronaldo went for 3 years ago. Cristiano Ronaldo! It's a HUGE gamble by Real. Absolutely massive. A lot of their fans either don't think he's needed or simply don't think he's as good as Perez is bigging him up to be. We've all seen what he can do, and I'm still fairly adamant we wouldn't be able to replace him with £300m nevermind £100m, but my God if Levy turns down an offer in excess of the world record, absolute kudos to him. He'd go up hugely in my estimations. Saying that, he'd also be bonkers, in a way, irrespective of what the fans think.
Yeah, but there's a reason that Real are interested in Bale at a far higher price than Suarez, it's because Bale is far more marketable. Real may be a circus, but their marketing department aren't mugs. They'll make their money back on him over 5-6 years.

If he goes, the only person I want to replace him is Erik Lamela.

There aren't many players who could replace Bale but Lamela is a good option - as would be Pastore.

Quite simply though, Bale is the perfect fit for this team. Sadly.

If he's guaranteed to go next year then we may as well sell now. If he has a better year this year, we win something, etc. then he should be worth even more. Not an agreed sale at the lower end of discussions this summer.
If he has a better year than this year he still won't be worth £85m, the price isn't reflective of his on-pitch exploits but a combination of that and the amount of Galactico marketing potential over 5 years.

I don't agree it it's better to sell now if a deal is set for next year. Ronaldo did fine in his last season at United even bought the deal was set for the next summer. If he can fire us into the CL and a cup and leave on a high, he would go with my blessing, and i suspect 99% of other fans.

Pastore has been simply woeful for PSG, looks like they were absolute mugged at the price they paid.

Strictly speaking this isn't about Real Madrid its about Perez, does anyone know when he comes up for election again?
Selling Bale now is a bad business decision all hands up who thinks Daniel Levy will make a bad business decision.

IMO we either sell him by next week or we keep him till next year. what we CAN'T do is wait ages then sell at the last minute. what use is having all this money in the bank with no time to spend it? and the last time we did that in 2008, we really did shoot ourselves in the foot. I still wake up in chills remembering how we went from Berbatov to Frazier Campbell in the blink of an eye.

Where is this world record bid going to come from if Real Madrid still owe us for Modric ?

Only other place I can think of is PSG or Monarco and I cant see him going there.

My feeling on this is getting worse and worse I think hes offski and I think it will be for a world record fee, its all depends if Levy will force him into handing in an official transfer request. IMO if he doesnt wanna be at Spurs I dont want him here end of story.

If we really told Paulinho Bale is staying and we sell him that would be very very awful and ridicoulos. Good start for Paulinho here.

They owe us for Modric because the deal was structured, pretty much only the likes of Citeh, PSG, Monaco and Chelsea pay up front, and that will probably stop when FFP kicks in.

This is beyond ridiculous. RM doesn't even need him THAT much, it's all about making a statement after Barca got Neymar, otherwise this saga would never get so far.
With the money they are "offering" they could get possibly both Suarez and Reus for example, better business for them if you ask me.
But now they are obsessed with our boy.

F*ck off RM.

Which is why the sale will be even worse, as this time next year he could be on his way back to the Prem with another club....

Also, I can't see these 2 things happening :

1. D. Levy sells Bale after all the promises that have been made
2. RM backtrack their interest, what message does it sends to their fans after going SO far?

All I can think of is if we sorted Bale's contract a month ago all of this could have been possibly avoided

I still think he's staying, and I refuse to take any part of the "if" he leaves.
