The problem now is that if we sell Gareth bale for 100 million out targets become more expensive as we have money to burn in our pockets..

Thought we really had a chance of the title with him in the team this year.

Has to be a world record fee for me and nearing 100 million pounds rather than 80.

Next worry is the structure. Can't let them give us some shitty amount up front

Fuck this shit.

Madrid have said 'now or never' we should tell bale that you are NOT being sold and here is a new contract for you to sign now or we will remove it and you can stay on your poultry weekly wage until we choose to sell you next season

We pay him with chicken burgers? No wonder he wants off :)

Hoping this is the current situation. I think everything has moved very quickly. Maybe since the squad has returned from HK everyone has had time to reflect.

If as reported here, Levy has said you can go now, but on our terms or next season for a reduced fee then I don't really think he can be any fairer.

The whole situation could actually play out this way, and no-one, not even Real Madrid will lose face.

Just reading the daily Fail... (i know, i know....) but they hAve a story on Bale, and the only quotes come from Anchelotti:

‘I have not spoken to Bale. Usually I do not speak to players from other teams.
‘The club are looking for a solution in the case of Bale, though there are no new developments with regards to this.’

And the headline? "WE'VE GOT HIM. REAL CERTAIN THEY HAVE LANDED BALE"

I just wish that for once Levy thought about the club in football terms rather than running it as a business. Football used to be about winning trophies and the glory that came with it, now it's all about the ££££££'s.

From a fan's perspective, I don't care that we have 100m in the bank, what good is that to a fan? At this point in time we cannot attract the best players to the club, if we were to keep our best players and have a successful season then that changes everything, we are in a much better position 12 months further down the line to improve the squad, and if Mr B still wants the challenge of playing abroad then he goes, but he goes at a time when then it would be a lot less detrimental to my football club.

So Daniel me ole mate if you are reading this whilst sat on Miami Beach, get on the blower and tell that prick agent of Bale's to shut the fuck up because Gareth's services are required at the Lane for another year!

I think I'm at the depression stage ATM where I feel like what's the point anymore? Whenever we're close some ****ish club comes and takes our best player.

Couldn't agree more. Right now I'm thinking we might as well throw Paulinho in as part of the deal and get it over with.

Maybe we should be more like the Scummers and have a load of overpaid, mediocre players who no-one else worth their salt wants and then go through the season getting dodgy decisions that go our way, easy runs of fixtures, and diving about in the box like nobody's business only to scrape the top four by a point on the final day of the season. I mean, it seems to have worked for them for the last half decade so it must be worth a try, surely?

Unsure of Adam Suters status as WUM/ITK or something in between but here are his latest updates on Bale:

If any of this is true, I stick by my conviction that Bale isn't going anywhere this window.

Was contemplating posting this yesterday but might aswell.
Whilst I think Gareth is an amazing player, pace, power, ridiculous shot technique, set pieces etc. I can't help feeling many Madrid fans will still be left feeling short changed by him. No doubt they will have only seen youtube compilations of him and expect so much.
In reality he has developed a mentality for me where he tries to do it all alone too much. I'm not sure if that's his lack of trust in the team or a quest for personal glory. The amount of times last season he knocked the ball ahead and tried to outrun like 4 defenders and failed was ridiculous, not to mention greedy.

Also although we have made everything set up towards him... He still has a tendency to go missing in games, this is with him roaming too.

Suddenly place him in a team where he has to keep position and Ronaldo is the star man... I just don't see him it works.

I really feel a better option for him from an unbiased view is to stay at us for a season or two develop his whole game better i.e right foot and close dribbling ability and then move and become the Ronaldo replacement whilst he exits his prime.

Just my onion but for the money they are paying,' Madrid fans certainly aren't getting what they expect.

I wonder if any ITK would be able to confirm if Suter's info has any truth in it.

I don't accept the proposition that we should have to sell our best player to afford a new stadium at all.

Not to afford it, but to afford it more easily.

I would actually back this. A bigger stadium will increase our revenue and profile in a big way, if you can minimise the debt/interest payments you have to make to build it then it will make us more competitive, more quickly. Unlike Arsenal's issue of financing their debt, which was taken out when credit was cheap by the way!

I agree completely that it would be better for him to stay. I also can understand why it is so tempting for us to sell for the ludicrous amounts quoted. Bale of today does not IMO have the ability to singlehandledly win games in the way Ronaldo could at the time went to RM, his technique and ability to fool a defender is not quite on that level yet. He might get there but we dont know if that will happen. Personally i hope Bale stays with us for many years to come, but i understand the temptation to sell.
