Levy definitely has all the power here. If Bale stays he can't do a berbatov, modric or Suarez because he'd shoot himself in the foot. His worldwide profile has been built on the wondergoals he scores and his sponsorship is based on him being squeaky clean. If he does anything to mess with that the sponsors wouldn't pay as much. If he stays and doesn't have a blinder for us he'll be seen as a one season wonder. Levy can wait for what he wants and knows the consequences of not getting it is to keep one of the five best players in the world.
The club have been really clever about this, there are no stories of Bale refusing to play, even though we all know what's going on. We're protecting his brand just in case he stays. Win win as I see it.

He clearly wants to go but he can't do much about our position. If we don't get the money we want then we know and he'll know he has to perform for us or damage his 11 heart brand.

But I can imagine a scenario where RM say we will pay £XM, he is worth no more, and Bale saying come on Mr Levy I am only worth £XM let me go, so Mr Levy says, OK but now someone says they will pay £X+YM. Over to you RM...

I was aiming more towards people suggesting we actually sell him to someone else. He'll just strop until we agree with Madrid.

If this is true that GB!! is considering a new contract then the reported 300k weekly salary supposedly being offered by RM could be a red herring as I believe that includes an amount to give up a substantial part of image rights
