I'd guess that the only final details to be resolved are waiting for the financial docs from Madrids bank guaranteeing the first payment or some other practical detail like that. I can't see that AVB would announce that he's off if there was any actual negotiation still to take place.

Seems to be a minority view on here likely to attract negative rep but bale has been very badly advised during this IMO and he will leave as the best player I ever saw for us but now with a reputation as a bit of a dick

Sorry for the spam rating, on the phone. Will eliminate when I get to a computer.

I take your point but I don't think this changes much. If they don't stump up the money Bale has to grovel until at least January.

Where as if AVB didn't say anything, we get an unhappy player who still wants to play football, and the crowd still love.

I'm not saying anyone else is wrong, just that my take on it is different.

Regardless of the outcome you cannot expect Bale's absence to go unpunished, more about principal than anything else. At the moment he is paid by Spurs to train and play football matches along with the rest of the team, why should he be treated differently to anyone else?

How do you know he wasn't told by Daniel Levy that this would all be tied up last week?

Would you trust Levy?

I wouldn't.

Well I look forward to the Levy statement on the whole situation.

AVB obviously a bit pissed with Bale, and if its true that he flat out refused to turn up then its more disappointing than anything else.

I cant see it working out for him to be honest, I have a gut hunch that Ronaldo is going to have his nose put out of joint a bit and may rally some allies in the dressing room. Our little quiet Welsh kid is going to have to find a bit of fortitude from somewhere to get through the first few weeks or months.

And while I am here - what the actual fuck was he wearing yesterday? Fuck me, kids nowadays hey?

Leighton Baines has been the example to follow this window. United in for him, bid rejected, keeps his head down and contributing solid performances for his club. None of these theatrics of going on strike, feigning injury, saying his head isn't right; literally doesn't even make a big deal out of it, cool as a cucumber. Top professional.

Think we've also learnt that when there's smoke there's fire when it comes to the media, both with the Willian saga and the Bale saga.

I've been preparing myself for Bale's piss poor attitude and willingness to do whatever it takes to get his move ever since Billy White posted that frowny face, so it hasn't come as too much of a surprise, but it still leaves an awful taste in my mouth. Prima fucking donna.

At the end of the day I think if we have got a world record fee for him then we've done really well because let's be honest, he has had 6-8 months as a world class player. Outside of that he was a good player who had the occasional world class game.

Who's to say which way he'll go next season (personally I'm not sure that Real Madrid with the ego's around that club is the best venue for him to solidify himself as a world star and he may go backwards compared to the second half of last season).

As for being the best player we've ever had I'm not 100% convinced he's even the best player we've had in the past 3-4 years.

Seriously I still don't understand why it would be impossible NOT to sell him because of AVBs quotes. Did I miss the part were AVB called him a **** and said he hopes he breaks his ankle in his first game? Honestly, what the hell are you talking about?

If it's the quotes I've read from AVB that have got your panties in a bunch then you're reaching further than anyone has ever reached. That or you are actually that Barnett ****.

See above, I'm not ignoring your post/point but having a conversation with umpteen angry men because of my comments.

And no I'm not Barnett.

But I am a ****.

How do you think he has been badly advised?

I don't have any idea if he has or he hasn't. All I know is Real Wanted him, he appeared to want to go. We publicly said he wasn't for sale.

Finally
He is getting what he wanted, that sounds like good advice, and as he is the one paying for it, it should be to his advantage.

Wasn't angry, just completely perplexed and trying to understand because I couldn't see anything even slightly wrong in AVBs quotes.

And I think deep down we're all a bit ****ish.

I still feel that if we had CL this year and strengthened the squad in the January window...we would still have this scenario....[\quote]

Agree....
It's actually all Barcelona's fault. If they hadn't signed Neymar, Real wouldn't be trying to compete for "world's biggest signing".
Fact of the matter is Barca got arguably the best Brazilian player in the world and Madrid need to apease their fans.
Unfortunately we became the victim

Meh was resigned to this weeks ago - expected better from Bale towards the end and he has obviously been advised as to how to behave (badly) to engineer the move, but onwards and upwards although don't for one minute think we wont miss him even with the new signings

YiddoInPoland

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

The fee will be massive to improve on the squad we have, and he was an amazing player to have played for our club.

But, the last few weeks the episode has put a sour taste in my mouth, the public tapping up, the agent leaks and then the refusal to even turn up was disgusting to be honest, and that is the sort of thing that turns me off this game, at least at the domestic level.

As has been said before, i hope it is not too much for him, Real, world record fee, new country, Ronaldo and all the prima donnas they have there it will be a million miles away from spurs.
