Although Gareth has thrown all his toys out of the pram over this move and acted a bit unprofessional, just remember, if it wasn't for him and his goals last year then we would not even be in the Europa league this season... so it is not only the transfer money we get for him but also the European revenue we generate this year, is down to Gareth.

Thanks for the memories Gareth..

Europa revenue?

Probably costs us more in Easyjet / Ryanair flights than what we earn in that competition.

Ugh, why did I watch that

I know how you're feeling having just watched it myself.

The worst thing about losing him isn't just losing a fantastic player but a player that rises to the big occasion to perform on the biggest stage. That is going to be very tough to replace but I have full faith that the players we've signed, and anyone else to come, will carry the mantle as a collective.

When he goes I wish him all the best. Ignore any sour notes over the past month or so, I put that more down to the agents, the media and Real Madrid, his football is what I'll remember of his time at Tottenham and what a majestic time it was.

I look forward to seeing the players we've sign gel in to a cohesive unit that will terrify a number of team and be the envy of many others. Onward and upward.

Why would us selling at last minute prevent Madrid selling Di Maria etc?

Given it's looking like Bale deal is 99.9% happening, Madrid can just have everything in the outgoing deals set up with just a formality left to sort and they can sanction that anytime they want?

He is gone, no doubt. When he was seen in Monaco with AVB at the Grand Prix I thought Bale may have gone there with AVB then being re united with Falcao at Spurs. One of the very few signings that would actually surprise me further in this window. Oh well.

I actually didn't think this would rumble on to deadline day, but it certainly looks like its coming down to the final day.

Sky will be loving that, absolutely loving it.

I guess the solution is to get one of Ozil/Di Maria/Benzema as part of a deal then. Apart from the fact there's only a tiny chance they'd come, it adds up if you think about it :sneaky:
Real may not need to sell anymore players (To Arsenal). The Bale deal would be cheaper (not WR) with a player included.
It's one less player for Arsenal to sign.
There's been talk of a big player arriving, particularly from RM.
Oh and I forgot, we'd get a world class player too :)

Surely not?

I still think they'd happily knock £40 mill off the Bale price and give us Ozil. The hard part is convincing him. Him in the hole behind Soldado would be game over for our rivals.

It would piss off the ****s down the road as you said!

It makes absolute sense. It's just getting him to come to WHL :(

Well I have good money on him to stay, couldn't resist lol. I'm not sure whether its a good thing or not to take it to the last day! My winnings will eventually come tantalisingly within reach, only to be snatched away at the last second

Great vid, great memories.

Well played Gareth and well played Spurs for signing him.

Arguably the best financial investment in prem league history. Through this deal we have built one hell of a motherfucking squad.

Trophies this year me thinks:D

I have a Bale 3 shirt signed with best wishes to my two lads aged 17 and 11 now. It is hanging on the wall in the room where we have sat and watched him perform amazing feats of brilliance over the last 5 or 6 years. He has always been special, even through the famous losing spell, the idea he had one good season is laughable. We will miss him, he is a Spurs legend up there with Greaves, Hoddle, Ardiles and Gazza. To finance the best team I have ever seen us have, even without him in is a unique legacy. I hope we go one and fulfil the potential we have right now. Thank you Gareth, good luck!!!

Top top post!

None of the aforementioned legends paid for, as you say, 'the best team I have ever seen us have seen is have' A legend just right there !!

Yeah...it wasn't professional for not turning up to training...and I'm sure that was the last thing he wanted to do - his timing kind of confirms that.

One may say I'm looking it from an apologetic point of view but I think as fans it's sometimes difficult seeing it from the players, or in the case Bale's perspective.

As the transfer window draws to a close over the next few days, I'm sure he was getting quite anxious last week, wondering whether Levy would actually do this the deal. After all he knows from first hand experience Levy kept Modric on for an another year.

With pressure from Madrid & his agent to make a statement of intent combining the fact he may not have ever got the chance to play for Madrid again whilst acknowledging the fact that it is highly unlikely he'd play in a World Cup or the Euros, playing for welsh minnows, his hand was almost forced by not turning up in order to try and push the deal through.

Once the summer of Bale's impending transfer concludes we can move on knowing he has left a legacy which we can now enjoy, which pushes us further forward as a club to helping us return to the glory glory days!

What a legend !

There is a strong case to say what he his done/achieved, is much more for the club than many other Tottenham legends !
