What it does do though, is gives us the last day of the window to end with a positive announcement. If there is one, then we've played this well IMO.

Though if we don't we've still played it very well.

Excellent transfer window all in all, despite Bale sale. We're now in profit. If we don't sign any more players then I think the '50m interest free loan from Lewis to sign new players' will seem like a possible untruth.

Absolutely gutted..........I wish him well, but can't help feeling he's making a big mistake. I hope he proves me wrong.

It's been like watching your child ( for us older fans lol ), grow up and leave the nest, but obviously not with the personal strings if you like. Not ashamed either that I've shed a few tears in the last week or so, still hoped that the deal would fall through, and after today's result it couldn't have happened at a worst time for me!

I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to watch him play in another shirt though!

Wonder if we have a buy back clause on him if it doesn't work out?!

Silkman on SSN, what a fucking idiot.

He reckons Southampton have a sell on clause - they don't, Spurs bought that years ago.
He reckons Spurs have done well financially but not well on the footballing side - Eriksen, Soldado, Lamela. No Baz, not at all.

If he's an agent and it's the night before Christmas, why the f is he on TV instead of dealing with clients.
They still have a mandatory 2m or so development fee

Well it finally happened, we knew it would, but still, as others have said, still hurts. Part of me wants him to succeed, part of me wants him to crash and burn. In a few days time I hope the former wins out as he has provided some wonderful moments in a Spurs shirt.

Why do people have to be such absolute ****s about Bale.

If it wasn't for him, we would have done no where near as well in the CL or the league.

He fucking carried us last season, we would have finished mid-table without him and people like JV and HL would have wanted out.

Stop being ****s, appreciate what he has done for us.

I really do hate some Tottenham fans- this is not aimed at anyone on here but some people are acting like this, it is even worse of twitter.

Good luck Gazza, good luck.

Oh, and show the **** Cristiano who's boss.
You can't throw the one man team thing about, without messi, Barca would be 60 goals short, same for Madrid without Ronaldo, Utd would've finished mid table too without RVP, we just made the most of a special talent

Yeah, bye.

I wish we'd stop it with the sour grapes.

I know we've nurtured him and stood by him as a club, but by all accounts he's put in a hell of a lot of effort over the past few years to becoming the world class player he is. We profited from that effort last season and we've profited from it now to the tune of £80-90 million pounds.

I don't really care that he didn't turn up to training for a couple of days. We've all known for weeks this was a done deal. It doesn't make any difference to us.

So, we're obviously going to miss him, but we're in a position now to move on and even improve, and personally I would like to be able to look back at Gareth with fond memories and wish him well for the future. Being bitter doesn't achieve anything.

I wish him all the best, really hope that the player we helped make, makes it to the same level as Ronaldo and Messi. I just wish he felt he could have done that with us.

Disappointed, but when some fools are paying the insane money for one player (althought he is a special one) it was time to sell and build a better squad with that money.

Thank You Gareth and good luck for the future! I hope You didn't make a wrong decision for You and Your career by going to RM...that is totally different world than Spurs and the Prem.

So he really wanted to go.

The trick is finishing what Levy has started. A full back of quality either side plus one player in a random position as a Brucey bonus.

No hate from me. All the best.

Agree with the others, sad day all round. This really does feel like a new chapter. A win today would if started that chapter of nicely.
