The problem with Bale is he has now moved into the state where legend comes before real time ability. I can't help but feel this is a bit like Everton fans thinking they'd signed the same Wayne Rooney that left them. Bale is not the player we let go nearly five years ago. His fitness record is worse, his wages have sky rocketed and the expectation he will come with would be untenable because some fans would think he can still single handedly win us games and others would think that because he'd be now ex-Real he'd be shit hot with every performance.

In reality Bale is not the player he was, would be playing in a better side than the one he left (and so would not be expected to carry the side but rather work as part of a unit) and would be extremely expensive in wages and transfer fee for what he would likely contribute. Personally I think we should enjoy fond memories and otherwise leave him in the past.

I understand all the reasons, we should have him back. I also understand why it is probably not going to happen. But, it would really, really piss Maureen off. For that reason alone, he's worth a punt.

Even though he is half the player he washis reputation means he'd create massive fear in opponents , freeing up Kane, eriksen etc even more .

Tbh thats good news the 0.008 figure is just a play on the previous quote but the fact JJ is playing along and not outright rejecting the rumour adds credence to the fact its a possibility.
... Unfortunately I think he's saying it's bollox.

Seriously?

I think he's basically just saying there's no chance.

I prefer spending 60 million on an injury prone Bale than on Sissoko, Janssen and GKN, if it was a straight choice between two options.

We wasted a lot of money on Sissoko, Janssen and GKN so let's waste more on Bale?

If his injury problems remain until the end of the season I wonder how much interest there actually will be. Highly doubt Klopp would trust him coping with double training sessions, Chelsea will want a no risk big signing, Utd are going for Greizmann, City don't need him and will want a younger player, he wouldn't sign for Arsenal.
I'm not suggesting we'll sign him but I wonder what he'd do if we're his only option back in PL but can only pay 120k a week.

Levy has repeatedly said that we are not in a position to take a huge financial risk on a player who may or may not work out with little sell on value. I’d wager he’s far more likely to spend a huge fee on a 21 year old with plenty of time to mound and pay dividends. I don’t think Levy is afraid to spend a high fee, he just only wants to do so with risk mitigated as much as possible.
