I'm sure someone said not too long ago that both Bale and BAE will be fit for pre-season.

Both players coming back in to contention will be like new signings. The left side is now probably our strongest side if Santos and Gilberto are included.

simply No, because Ekotto didn't look more than ok when he involved in english game, Gilberto is just useful, Dos Santos is unproven in EPL and needs time, he also could be used as 2nd striker or right winger ..

I'm talking about CL team ...

Who mentioned a CL team? We're talking about our squad.

It takes time to evolve Q8, and at present our players are good enough to challenge for top four, just about. As for Ekotto, we've simply not seen enough of him in a 100% fit state to judge fairly. If he is fit and is chosen over Bale, Gilberto and Chimbonda, then we can judge. If he lets us and himself down, then he'll be shipped out.

Gilberto was bought for his experience and again he's been injured since his arrival in January. Think of him as as our latest Naybet, where the young guys can learn from a Brazilian International. Bale, for one, will pick up a lot from gilberto who plays in his prime position, that of left back.

I take your point with Dos Santos. He is only nineteen and we can't fall in to the trap of high expectation, but he is a first teamer from Barcelona. He will have the same aspirations as Lennon asked of him, simply for that reason. Lennon is not the finished article by a long shot but he is young too and still learning his trade.

I stand by my opinion that if fit, our left side looks strong, strong enough for a challenge on the top four.

Don't think Dos Santos was ever what I'd call "a first teamer", more a part of the first team squad, big difference.

Woohoo Ekotto is going to be back for pre-season!!!

Oh and Bale is back too...

Ha ha just joshing!

Will be great to see Bale back in action as he's corners were soooo good last season I actually looked forward to him taking them! :) Jenas or Lennon taking them doesn't really have the same effect!

Will be interesting to see him at left back more as mainly saw him in games on left wing last season where he did a good job.

I agree as per my original post MJ. Like I said, Dos Santos will be coming in with the intention of breaking in to the first team quickly, based on his experience from La Liga. But we ought not to expect too much from him. I guess the same goes for Gareth Bale really who is still a teenager, albeit a prodigy. Ekotto however, has it all to prove. If he comes back from injury firing on all cylinders then he ought to prove what Commolli saw in him when he came on board. If not, he's out in the next window, no doubt.

All told, though, with all these left sided players in the squad, we look a heck of a lot stronger than last season and that weakness has definitely been an achilles heel for two seasons.

I am not too worried about next season....however, I am also not going to 'count my chickens' before THFC are sitting at the 'sharp end' of the League....and looking more comfortable....at last! COYS!
