i don't agree with most of what has been said.

i think perhaps he should've stayed wider today as on the opposite side we had niko naturally drifting centrally, but when lennon is on that side i'm more than happy for bale to roam. our 2nd goal came from him roaming and it wasn't long ago that bale put in about 5 months worth of fairly nothing performances while playing wide as he was predictable and easy to mark(doubled up on), this season he has taken his game to a higher more consistent level, but has had a bit of a dip since winning the premier league player of the month for january.

bale! bale! bale!

Wing role or not - doesn't disguise the fact that he prances around with little intent to win the ball back or harass the opposition, plus his defensive duties at set pieces are woeful.

Bale does look lazy now. Last season we were pulling out Opta stats from all over the place to show how he covered the most ground of any Premier League player in any game ever or some such. I wonder what those statistics show now.

He looks disinterested when the opposition have the ball and he's started to play like the annoying kid in the playground who thinks he's better than everyone else.

And keeps fuckin shooting ehen other player are better placed or tying to go alone when others are better placed

i'd just let them double mark him... it just creates more space in the centre for vdv and others... it's a team game :)

Harry should stop dicking about playing him out of position. He's a left-back. End of.

Needs to be reigned in abit as this free role lark has gone to his head and doesn't put in the shift to win the ball back which Rafa has in his locker.

433 and stick to being either wide left or switch flanks with Lennon periodically to wide right - leave the middle for Modric, Rafa and co.

I'd say just stick him on the left and glue the fucker there forever! That's where's he's made his name and is making his money and that's where his true game is!

How often do you think you will see Valencia on the left for Manure??

This has to stop and we need to get back to our core game and play our players in the their percentage roles and stop the flash shite.

No more Bale any where other than on the left, he is useless on the right and not much better in a free role. Get him back to raping right backs please, stop pandering to him. And his diving is getting embarassing

Can someone tell him this isn't 10m diving please. He's becoming a bit embarrassing with his theatrics now.

He needs to think back 12 months and be that Gareth Bale again.
It's been embarrassing for a while. He won't stop it until he gets a card every time he does it and somebody (ie the manager) tells him to. In the meantime, we'll have to put up with refs not giving us free kicks when they should because they think we're divers.

The fact that we have a cheat in the team will hurt us.

I can't believe a player of his standard shits himself so much when it looks like he might have to use his right foot. It's criminal.

As an alternative perspective...go back and look at the number of times he got clattered previously with absolute zero protection from the referees - maybe you should attach some blame there

With his right foot issues?

I don't think he gets clattered any more than Modric, Parker, Walker etc do.

I wasn't answering your post.
And I was specifically referring to last season, and, specifically, what little he had of a second half of last season, seeing as Adam assaulted him without even getting a yellow card (and that was one of the most shocking and patently deliberate challenges I have seen in a long time). He was being kicked all over the place.

Truth is, he does seem to have developed a bit of a get out of the way mentality, in reaction to that. But he still gets clattered a-plenty, and often without the refs taking any action, and for the pen, the Goons defenders were nibbling at his ankles all the way, and it was inconclusive if Szelny touched him. I agree, it was a soft pen - not convinced that, based on a couple of iffy falls our own fans should be holding this witch-hunt. TBH, I think it is just some disappointment-related shi'ite.
