Setanta talking about a possible deal to be offered by City that includes Adebayor, Johnson and a few quid.

I would accept these two players, some of their wages being supplemented by City for a season or two and £30m cash. Use that cash to snare Vertonghen, Lloris and Belhanda and we are laughing.

How easy is this football management lark eh?(y)

Nooooooow you're talking

Gareth Bale's agent admits it is a 'problem' that Tottenham have not made the UEFA Champions League but dismissed claims that he in talks with Barcelona.

Jonathan Barnett admitted that Spurs' asking price of £40million for the Wales international is 'too expensive' for the Catalan giants and he feels they will look concentrate their efforts on Valencia's Jordi Alba.

Barca are looking to bolster their left-sided options and Bale has long been on their radar, but they look to have pushed ahead with their move for Alba instead, who would cost less than half what Spurs want for their Welsh star.

Speaking to Catalan-based Sport newspaper, Barnett said that a likely asking price of £40million was too much for Barca.

"I think it's too expensive for the club," he admitted.

"To my knowledge, the club [Barcelona] has not made any offer for him.

"If interested, they would have to put money on the table and then start talking. But it seems that the club is working on the signing of Jordi Alba, a cheaper option."

Bale signed a new long-term contract at Tottenham last year, but the player himself has admitted he would not be against a move to the continent at some point in the future.

And Barnett acknowledges that the lack of Champions League football on offer at White Hart Lane could be an issue.

"Yes, it is clear that this is a problem," said Barnett.

"The big European clubs already know how much it would take to do the operation and therefore if you are interested you know what kind of offer has to be put on the table."

I'd sell him to Shitty. For their entire club. Which we can do as we please with. And Gareth's just left looking around a wasteland in Manchester with a confused look on his face. Otherwise they can get fucked. Actually, Shitty can just get fucked regardless.

Do you mean to say there are lies and dishonesty on the internet?

I now wonder what my mail order bride is really going to look like when she arrives....

I like the bit about Bale but the bit about VDV and Huntelaar is nonsense, there are really close friends so would want to play together

I won't Bale out: Spurs relief as star pledges another year

Despite Tottenham missing out on the Champions League and sacking Harry Redknapp, Gareth Bale is not looking to follow Luka Modric out of the door

Gareth Bale has handed Tottenham a massive boost by deciding to stay at White Hart Lane for at least one more year.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is already set to lose £30million-rated Luka Modric to Real Madrid, but Bale has told friends he is happy at the club.

Bale’s Spurs contract expires in 2015 and the club will offer him a pay rise to extend that deal.

Despite Tottenham missing out on the Champions League and sacking Harry Redknapp, Bale is not looking to follow Modric out of the door.

It is understood Bale does not see his own situation linked to that of Redknapp or Modric, and wants to try to help Spurs back into Europe’s elite competition.

His future may become an issue if Spurs once again miss out on Champions League football and fall further behind the Manchester clubs, Arsenal and Chelsea next season.

Barcelona watched 22-year-old Bale on several occasions last season and will continue to monitor his situation, while City have also expressed an interest.

With Tottenham demanding over £40m for Bale, however, both Barca and City would rely on him trying to force a move out of White Hart Lane and that will not happen this summer.

A source close to Bale said: “Gareth believes Tottenham were unlucky not to get into the Champions League after finishing fourth and is happy to stay at the club for now.

“The chairman obviously has plans that did not involve Harry Redknapp and Gareth wants to find out what those are.”

Bale dropped a heavy hint he will stay by talking about Tottenham’s tough Premier League opener at Newcastle, saying: “It’s important to get off to a good start.

“It will be difficult, especially away from home, but it’s a good early test for us.”

With central defender Jan Vertonghen definitely joining Spurs from Ajax, the club are also on the lookout for two new strikers.

Negotiations are continuing over whether a permanent deal can be struck with Manchester City for Emmanuel Adebayor, while Marseille’s Loic Remy is a long-term target.

Levy has also explored the possibility of trying to sign Holland striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, 28, whose Schalke contract contains a £17m buy-out clause.

Huntelaar scored 29 goals in 32 Bundesliga games last season and Levy is considering including Rafael van der Vaart in a deal for him, with Schalke interested in the 29-year-old and the ex-Hamburg midfielder hinting he would be open to a return to Germany.
