Klopp has obviously convinced the board that he can challenge City in the not too distant future, with VVD now and Keita in the summer + anyone else they have lined up ...

Seems fucking bonkers to me, but eh, guess the proof will be on the pitch.

Money in football is disgusting now, that's for sure.

Crazy money there, especially when since coming back from injury he’s looked all over the place too.

I don’t know if van dijk is any good or not. Can’t say he particularly stood out whenever I saw him play. In fact all I ever remember him for is the air kick when Kane knocked the ball past him and scored against Southampton a few years back.

Who is he about as good as in the league? I want to say Smalling for some reason.

He's like a Dutch John Stones. Very good with the ball at his feet but poor defensive awareness of what's around him and doesn't read the game very well.

the Keita buy is the key. He covers ground like kante which will allow them to play with their forwards. VVD is a good player and better than they have. They still need a good left back + keeper and to get Clyne fit:

keeper
Clyne Matip VVD LB
Keita, Wijnaldum
Salah, Lallana, Mane
Firmino

That is a very good team. Still have some gaps, particularly losing Can and Coutinho

Can't disagree with that to be honest. I don't think that new kid right back and Robertson at left back are bad options either.

Trying to work out their finances at the mo, as they'e currently £100m (net) spent with Keita and probably others still to come and almost £100m on our wage bill.

Hope it comes crashing down via a Klopp break down (which looks likely at times this season!) but they'e certainly giving it all they've got...

Will Klopp have the balls to drop Henderson though...

Also, I reckon Robertson is a good left back but Klopp needs to give him more game time.

Can only assume Coutinho is gone. It’s the fee that makes me think that. £75m for him is ridiculous

TBF VVD is much more dominating in the air

Can’t help but feel Keita will be the signing of next season, along with Salah being the signing of this season. 75 mil for VVD is crazy, but if they have the cash to spend then its still an improvement. At some point they will fix the holes in their squad. Their defence may never been rock solid, but their midfield and attack may become so potent it might not matter. It’s true loosing Coutinho will be a big blow for them, but they will go and spend 80/90 on a replacement, can see them splashing th cash on a Draxler for example. At some point they won’t be as frail as they are now.

The top five most expensive defenders in history are now in the prem

Van Dijk
Mendy
Walker
Luiz
Stones

I swear I’d only take Walker at Tottenham! We’ve got 3 centre halves who’d break the record for a defender it seems then

which is why every year we can keep Toby is worth it.....understand that he wants a low buy out fee but worth trading that for a 2 year delay in triggering it.
