The amount of money these agents are collecting is criminal. I read the barkley agent got 7m. Alexis sanchez's agent got 10m.

Lets not talk how much mendes or raiola have gotten.

What can the PL or UEFA do though?
FIFA can ban clubs from paying agents to secure deals, meaning that the only fees agents pocket are the representation fees they get from their players.

They won't, but they can.

At this stage, it's beyond the PL or UEFA or even FIFA, and it's the clubs themselves who have to take a stand. It won't happen.

What you have now is agents deliberately advising clients to run down their contracts in order to secure moves with the same transfer fee that would be paid to a selling club instead going to the agent when they move on a free or in a desperate sale with a year/6 months left on their contract. It's absolutely scandalous. And what will be done about it? Nothing. It's ruining football IMO.

Oxlaid Chamberlain's got in that range too. Its why he went to Liverpool over Chelsea.

Off topic but since you live in that neck of the woods, how have the fans there taken to Graham Potter so far? Such an interesting appointment that I really hope works out well.

IMO this is partly what's going on with Alderweireld. I believe his Dad is his agent so he'd be in for a big lump of cash if Toby moved on the cheap.

That's a good point. That's a lot of money for the family if he gets a move rather than staying. You wouldn't normally care so much about the agents slice.
I wonder if there are sign on bonus' involved with contract renewals otherwise how do agents get paid?

I don't have an issue at all with agents earning whatever they can from their client, that's very much between them and their client and is no different in many industries (particularly the entertainment industries etc), some agents do really good things for their clients, and football is populated by some pretty poorly educated individuals who need good advice (career/financial/investment/image rights etc) and representation and etc.

But the whole getting paid by both parties (sometimes both clubs and player) of a deal thing just seems intrinsically flawed and open to conflict of interest which could damage the client etc.

Edit
And Barca are also trying to sign Willian, who also plays ARM.

Wolves have just signed Moutinho, should we just call them Portugal from now on?

They'll be buying CR at 45 years old at this rate

Apart from anything else, I think Malcom is taking a big risk with his career choosing Barca over Roma, where (Roma) their style (433) would have suited him and he was sure to play most weeks. At Barca he’s got Messi often playing in his preferred position WRF and they often played a kind of 4222 last year, which won’t suit him at all.

Stupid move by Malcom IMO.

Ummm hard to answer really for me as I have connections within the club behind the scenes apparently its now very different a step back almost in Swansea eyes.

The fans are a bit disillusioned with life at Swansea the owners have ruined the club the Kaplans have basically returned Swansea as a city to the dark ages with the lagoon project being shelved now Swansea are also not a premier league club relegation has hit the club and city very hard. Quite a few people I know have lost their jobs or jobs to be due to the premier league funding. Potter also doesn't seem to have a team settled yet on what he wants to do. They have not been great so far in pre season.

There's also further off the field issues

Swansea's economy and city has been set back years, its amazing until you see the back end of stuff how important the premier league is to city's like this.

I can tell you a story actually 2 weeks ago I was out with the drone down on Swansea's gower peninsula got stopped by 3 Korean tourists (I had my spurs shirt on btw),weirdly they were asking for me to just take a photo of them with the cliff back drop so I did

Before asking why are you in Swansea its very random?

"We seen Swansea soccer on tv with the visit Wales sign....we decide to come visit very beautiful!! Son big Beckham star at home"

Another one....is a local business I know has a advertisement board up where some of the camera's frequently focus he sells industrial pumps! Since that hoarding has been up 2 years.....he has sold 800% more products worldwide.

So as you can imagine there's not much of a feel good factor around the place at the moment.

What's the deal with mendez, Wiki says that he has the majority share in Wolves so help me understand what he's doing with his clients and the club, whatever it is it sounds dodgy as fuck.

Would be interested in seeing a break down of how these transfers are conducted.
