Gross ?

1997/98

P4 W1 D1 L2 ?

The only one I could think of and he had the excuse that we had a terrible side that could easily have been relegated. I cannot think of a manager of ours that has so much talent available that has utilised it so poorly is this area.

the reality is we are a very inconsistent team and until we strengthen the characters in the squad this run of results will crop up.
Last summer was the perfect opportunity to add consistent leaders to the squad to compliment our young team.
instead we bought Sissoko this guy is the epitome of inconsistency, gkn is not ready to make an impact and janssen hasn't been through a dry spell like this before and doesn't know how to deal with it.
all is not lost but should we expect anything else given the personnel

He needs to go to 3 at the back and start writing up a list of players he wants in the summer. The last 6 games have been awful.

Dier can only work in a 3.
Sissoko is just not good enough.
Davies is a competent left back but is not versatile to work as a wing back.
Dembele is just nowhere near the form of last season.
Kane's goals mask his overall performance for the team. His press is non existent.
Son is inconsistent.

Too many players out of form and no natural leaders to pull them up on it in my opinion. Fucking Gent.

Poch is having an absolute nightmare at the moment.

The systems that he is picking with the players he is picking just aren't working at all.

He needs to stop playing Dele left fucking wing, Kane is having to take a million touches because no-one is ever close to him.

Davies needs to never play left back again, he's just awful. It would be better playing Trippier there.

Why does Poch always wait until 70 mins to make changes too?

I love the bloke but he's making fuck up after fuck up with the system and team he is choosing. He needs to recognise that he isn't performing either.

He was doing it regularly first half of the season too. Seems have gone back to it.

I think what hurt more was the fact that Arsenal were winning cups and leagues while we floundered and flattered

We seem to have lost all pattern and some stupid individual mistakes are costing us. We've gone from being rock solid at the back to just being clueless. Dier has been poor in defence: is he any better than Wimmer?
I think Dier is prone to outright dopiness.

We are a young team.. As much as Poch is taking credit when this team is making waves, he has to take similar criticsims when the team is having hiccups.. Poch is the only one who can lift them up for majority of these lads have won nothing, and knew nothing on the feeling of winning.. This mentality handicap is even more apparent when we are in a bad patch like now that translates to their performance on pitch.. They have no prior experience to draw from..

In all honesty tonight was not about tactics or plan B's with all due respect to Gent we didn't ought to have to set up to be able to compete with them, we ought to be able to impose ourselves playing 4231, 433, 352 or 442, we really should have played better with that side out there tonight.

We only seem to play well in the league in November and December. It was the same last year. We are awful in cup competitions. Under Poch we have won 74, drawn 37 and lost 35. A win rate of 50.7%. Redknapp's win rate was 49.49.%. Progress?

All I know is that we struggle to break teams down too often, especially away from home. It is all very well keeping the ball, but slow predictable play with an isolated frontman reeks of AVB tactics. Slow, boring predictable football.

But, we can play the shit out of teams, like the Chelsea game and Man City last year. Is it the manager, the players or are we just f@@king cursed?

Kane out for the weekend apparently. Injured knee. Not that it will matter, doesn't get any help up there on his own anyway so is always fighting a losing battle.

Tim Sherwood had a good win rate too so I wouldn't be chucking those stats about. Apart from that I agree, we are shit in the cups under Poch.

What hurts far more than that is a talented Spurs that doesn't try and simply doesn't care about certain tournaments. I can't tolerate us being poor as long as we apply ourselves and give our all. This attitude that we have which we have had for close to a decade now is just inexcusable.

Can you actually say something constructive about the team and the game instead of silly little oneliners that you think makes you special.

You want something constructive?

Okay

This is the best Spurs squad since 1991. It's actually better than that one.

We're third in a league where we are outspent by at least 5 teams.

Get some ducking perspective you short sighted mook.

How's that?

from what I hear, Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw will be on the market since Jose doesn't like them. Might be worth a look though I doubt UTD would sell to us.

If I expect football matches to go to form and ability? I don't expect that, I recognize that sometimes, teams with less talent can beat teams with the better talent and ability, that's not my argument here at all, my argument is that, when a team with better talent and ability actually bothers to turn up and put the full level of effort required into the match then 9 times out of 10 they win it, barring another team getting lucky.

You seem to always have this approach that it's a bad day at the office with every game with minimal criticism, are you suggesting the players DID put their entire effort into this match? Because if you are and you think they did play to the best of their ability and maximum effort then what was the reason we didn't get anything from the match whatsoever? Because Gent are a better side? Or because it was just a "bad day at the office?"

I can believe the latter excuse if we actually looked like we could get anything from the match but frankly we were outplayed, second to everything, they looked better than us in every area, that's how I know they didn't put effort in because I have seen this team when it is putting effort in and even when we lose under those circumstances we still look like a competent and capable team.

If another team who, in terms of ability, are below are ability turns up and raises their game against us then it's up to us to raise ours higher, let's stop making excuses for shit performances.

My point is that there will be games where the other team plays above their station and nullify us and stop us, this was that game. We were very poor there's no denying that but let's not go overboard...if you actually expect these players to apply themselves the same way they did in the Chelsea match then you're a bit naive, that's not how football works otherwise we'd win every match...This is why you need to expect us to have downtime sometimes, it's something you're gonna have to get used to.

Really? Go on I dare you to dig out my 'just bad day at the office' post from the Liverpool match..I criticised the team and the manager, just because I don't write paragraphs of nonsense, looking for every kind of scapegoat and moan like an over expectant child when we lose doesn't mean I'm not critical. You have Spurs tinted goggles in your analysis which is why you made that Poch thread which you later regretted yet here you are moaning again.

You totally lack perspective, you were banging on about the same thing against Sunderland saying that they played shit yet their fans were saying it was one of their best performances of the season, you were moaning at the Monaco and Chelsea results (shock Spurs lose to teams better than them) yet as I said we had a fuckload of injuries at the time, it's always a familiar story with you.

We were shit yet we were outplayed by a team who raised their game against us, I'm not surprised by teams in this competition anymore, we always struggle especially away from home, honestly no need for the post mortem, shit happens...move on.
