Wijnaldum should fire his agent for not putting a Relegation Release clause, with a reasonable fee, in his contract.

Townsend managed to secure his exit through such a clause. And I know he signed during January, but agents get paid millions of pounds to look after the best interests of their clients, with expensive legal advice where necessary.

I suspect both Wijnaldum and Sissoko will do their utmost to force moves away from the barcodes, but Ashley will see them as assets on which he can make a hefty profit. And no clubs are going to pay £25m for Wijnaldum and £35m for Sissoko.

lol as if he would have thought Newcastle were going to get relegated

Doesn't matter. It's pretty basic agent stuff unless your player is signing for Barca or Real Madrid. They get paid a hefty percentage to take care of this shite and protect their client at the time of signing the contract.

Now Sissoko and Wijnaldum are stuck in the Championship.

This boy had loads of hype in Holland but since moving over here I seriously have not seen it. £15m max. Not sure what he'd bring to improve the squad, he'd just be basically filling the gaps and making up the numbers.

I doubt he'd sign for a team to potentially sign a contract with a relegation release clause in it, you're more than likely to question the clubs ambition if you need such a clause in it.

Don't know a lot about him. Know he was highly regarded before he went there and difficult to judge anyone in that team given how terrible they were collectively.

If Poch wants him, I'll trust him on it

The mentioned fee is overprice, but still he is worth it. A shame we didn't sign him ages ago. Not very difficult to know that he would become a great player. We need to wrap up a deal as soon as possible. Surley other clubs will be interested in signing him.

Not a fan. Despite being their best player he was dropped last season for a period due to lack of commitment. Hardly a good sign.

Great acceleration, able to go past players and nice finisher - judging by this compilation

We don't need more proof than this. Should have signed him ages ago. £25 mill is in a way fair in today's transfer market when you look at the quality, but still it is overprice. Newcastle is also a relegated team. We need to hurry up on this one. This is a player that can play at the highest level for some of the best clubs in Europe.

Hmmm - tricky one

To me he looks a fair player. Quick, good touch, elusive, good finisher.

BUT

Is he not just N'Jie about three years down the line?

If he was left footed, maybe, but I have to say that I don't see he adds that much to the squad. Where will he play? LW? In which case he's be behind Eriksen, competing with Pritchard, Chadli, N'Jie etc. Admittedly he's arguably/is better than all those reserve players, but for 25m that seems pretty steep.

That's a highlight reel and yet it's full of misplaced passes and ponderous final balls.

I'd rather we looked elsewhere personally. I think we could get better players and better value from someone else.

But if Poch wants him, will obviously his judgement!!

Fingers crossed - as I've said elsewhere, glad we're looking at AM to strengthen.

If we're looking for a wussy-but-goalscoring midfielder I'd rather pocket the £25m and hold on to Chadli, ta.

(And then flog Chadli and spend the Wijnaldum £25m on Boufal, for what it's worth.)

I said it further back in the thread but Newcastle was a mess from top to bottom last year. They did have talent in their squad, but it was a horribly unbalanced one, with an incompetent manager for most of the season, and a boardroom at war with the fans and local media.

Any foreign player coming into this shitstorm can be forgiven for being shocked at the state of the club, and perhaps his performances suffering as a consequence of losing heart at the situation.

I'm not saying this guy is right for us, only that context has to be used when analysing someone parachuted into that wholly disfuncional club.

I like him, said as much earlier in the season got an eye for goal and a good engine on him.
Surprised though if we bring in another midfielder, don't see him as a 10 more of a box to box number 8 - If we do bring him in I can see Mason, Bentaleb and Carroll on their way out. Dembele, Dier, Wanyama, Wijnaldum and Alli would be real strength in depth in the middle of the park!

Look at Sissoko, people laughed at him as a potential signing, yet he bullied our midfield on the final day of the season and has been immense at the Euro's.

Subject to a sensible fee, Wijnaldum would be a very good signing. He's got the technical ability of Chadli but also has pace, something we lacked at times last season. His 'attitude' can be forgiven, as you said... a foreigner in his 1st season abroad and playing for a team in complete disarray was at some point going to lose heart.

In terms of his fee, he showed glimpses of real quality and if you take into account what Newcastle paid for him and the current market... getting him for circa £20m would be a very good deal.

I still think he's very average.

He looks absolutely unplayable for about 8 games a season, like the Euro final. The rest of the time he has the vision of Stevie Wonder and his first touch is reminiscent of Peter Kay in a John Smiths adver

responding to criticism of Janssen - believe in Poch, him and his team know more than you.
