with a jaunty walk and an optomistic whistle i'd say.

Getting from WHL though is far more subjective

Sod changing to the Overground from Seven Sisters. Get it from Liverpool Street. But before you do, why not visit one of the many bars and eateries in the LS area. If you need a complimentary newspaper, WH Smiths will oblige (for a small nominal fee). Then speak to the friendly (!) platform staff and ask them to point you in the direction of the next WHL bound locomotive. Board the train with a skip in your step before enjoying all the comforts of a seat.

If you're arriving into Victoria the simplest way to get there is Victoria line to Seven Sisters (about 20mins), from there you could do the walk or get the overground train to WHl but I would recommend to get a bus, anyone ending in a 9 will take you direct to the ground, takes about 5-10mins down the high road and you hardly have to wait at all to get on one

I wouldn't go to Liverpool Street from Victoria tomorrow mate as the circle line is closed, stick to the Victoria line, far simpler and quicker

Sounds like the thread creator is getting some great advice and help here, great to see you guys helping each other out.

I have a similar, but possibly more complex problem...

I get up the Lane approximately once a year (live in Plymouth, plus the wife deems things like groceries to be a better use of our funds...), I've previously travelled with a mate and grabbed a space anywhere within a one mile radius, but this is no longer an option. I'm looking to get up in either Feb, Mar or April.

Here's my choices...the wife has relatives in Worcester Park, Surrey. So I could set up base camp there and go via public transport to the ground (I'm guessing taxi would be extortionate). Any ideas for routes, i.e. do I get to a central point or bus/train depot and go from there?

OR...

Hop on the plane from Plymouth to London City Airport, and apologies here because I really don't know London at all, but how far is that from The Lane?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. squeaky 2vs1 win tomorrow.

I come from Redhill and we always get the train to Victoria, then the tube to Seven Sisters.

We never get the train from there though for 2 reasons.

1) It's a pain if it's busy, especially after the game.
2) There's something quite exciting and magical about "the march" from Seven Sisters. It's a bit of a tradition that walk, stopping at THFC Macca's as a halfway point. Then approaching the ground the atmosphere starts to build and the excitement gets pumping.

No doubt midweek night games are perfect for "the march", joining fellow fans along the way as the flood lights start to fill the night sky. Ooh I just got tingles, COYS!!!

You've got me convinced that I should be doing the walk from Seven Sisters!

Is it a straightforward walk? (could I get lost not knowing the area, I guess I'm trying to say!)

I'll be getting the tube from Euston or Kings Cross to Seven Sisters for the FC Twente game, was just going to jump on a train from there to WHL.

I could do the walk though, how far is it, about a mile?

Depending on how fast you walk mate it takes 15 to 20 minutes. I am a fast walker as I can smell the Strongbow in the Bell and Hare carpark as soon as I get to SS:hump:

I'm a reasonably quick walker but would probably take my time and amble along to enjoy the experience (on the way to the B&H, obviously!) - how far into the walk is the B&H? Nearer to WHL than Seven Sisters station?

B&H is just outside the ground. A good four hour trek from Seven Sisters, then.

The Bell and Hare is on the corner, right next to the Park lane. You can stumble out of there at 2:50 and be in your seat for half time!! ;-)

Brilliant! I take it your not much of a walker then? Me neither really, I'm being swayed by the possible atmosphere build up on the walk, I'd like to experience that.

Superb! I walked past the Brickies when I was up for the Wigan game (so I know where that is now), didn't find the B&H but that's ideal for next time (though I think I'm close to the North Stand side of the West Stand for the FC Twente game, but that's ok.

Next league game I get to I'm determined to get into the Park Lane though!

I can walk with the best of them. And in my experience, you don't feel the buzz until you're very close to the The Lane. Anyone who's on foot from SS is usually somnambulating because it's such a long walk.

I am usually trying to shake off the lethargy of another Friday night on the piss. A can of cider and 20 B+H from the offie next to William Hill and I am sorted again. I always give Jimtheyid a wave when I pass the cop shop!
