players can be loaned between prem clubs - tim howard from man utd to everton springs to mind or rossi from united to newcastle or song from arsenal to charlton or smertin from chelsea to various or geremi from chelsea to various or even davenport from us to southampton :)

Dont think anyone is debating that point, its more the number of times a players registration can be changed in one window.

Name me a single agreement where a player has been bought and loaned out with the EPL in that specific window. It simply doenst happen as its not allowed

ACTUALLY!!! :-D

I'm pretty sure the rule that stopped Robbo from re-joining Leeds after moving to us in January was that Leeds already had 2 domestic loan deals in place, and although you can have unlimited loans from outside England, only 2 domestic loans are allowed at one time.

I'm sure that was the reason as well

I think Robbo couldn't come to us and then be loaned back to Leeds. That is the deal they wanted.

I think with the signing of Boateng, a move for Barnes is now a non starter. hope he doesnt go to the spam though.

i think we should be for 4 reasons:

1.) He is a lefty whose position LW/LM.

2.) We were intersted before (i think we bid for him) and so he would not be an impulse buy as we have been scouting him for a while.

3.) He is English.

4.) I like it when we beat the hammers to signing players and they end up with toot like Bellamy.

No he isn't. I've seen Barnes play 3 times and he's been on the right twice and in the hole once. And he's not noticeably left footed at all.

Talented player, but we've signed players now who do what we wanted him to do, so I don't see why we'd buy him now.

I have only seen him play in the Championship when Sky are showing Derby games so I don't have too much knowledge on him but from what I have seen he looks like a good player.

He has a few tricks and can put some power into a shot. He also has a very good physical presence (well he looks like a tall player).

He would be great cover for JJ to start off with. Plus he can play on the right so he can cover if Lennon and Routledge can't play. He can play right wing I don't really see him as a winger (although I do recall a Friday night game shown on Sky where he ran down the wing and beat a few players and managed to get into the box and pull a pass back to another Derby player).

I don't think he would have a problem settling and he meets the buying policy.

Although we did just sign KPB and if we were also after him I would guess Ghaly, Murphy and a few other CM's would be out the door.

Great player but he's esentially an attacking midfielder/second striker. Which we already have plenty of cover for.

Another player who is good now, and will only get better it seems.

The prospect of having Lennon, Taarabt, Rose and Barnes as our attacking options for the flanks would be great, surely?!

Barnes would be a good buy, good player and only gonna get better. He does have a handy left foot, but no means is he a left winger, more left mid field if anything. You can never have enough quality players these days, especially with so many games to play this term....
