I reckon he's being brought in as an eventual Keane relacement. He has all the attributes to make a good forward, dropping off into the hole. Playing him on the left would leave us very vunerable down that side, unless of course we're changing formation.

If we sign him ill be seriously impressed.

My only concern will be how much money we have left this summer to buy what we need.....a quality defensive midfielder.

Don't worry about the money, we have loads to spend this summer.

What with new TV money, record profits this year from us, the selling of players and the general excellent financial management of Levy co. we should have somewhere in the region of £50m to spend all together, obviously more if we sell Berbatov.

not to be too snarky, but i don't believe this bit of info applies here. presumably the idea behind getting deals done before euros would be to get players in before their price rises. dos santos is mexican so i think this wouldn't be an issue.

I think Ramos has said he wants most, if not all, deals done early so he can get a full pre-season in with them.

Don't know if this has been posted already but I just watched this clip of him and he looks QUALITY! A fast left-footed winger that gets to the bye-line and crosses - he's made for us!

Keeping my fingers well and truly crossed!

In that vid, Dos Santos actually plays all across the line: left side, right side, down the middle. And the very best performance I've seen him give for Barca was as an out-and-out CM (playing the Iniesta role).

If we sign Capel as well, Gio probably won't spend that much time on the left but he's such a good footballer he can attack from pretty much anywhere.

I get the feeling we will look like right tossers again and end up with Ashton

I'm not quite so sure. The January ITK suggested Ramos saw Steed as good enough to be a squad player, and he can play both right and left side.

Dos Santos and Capel are very attacking players, and I can certainly envisage situations where Ramos would want us to be tighter defensively. Steed, with his great work ethic, could play a lot of games for us as a squad player - especially away from home.

if he comes... AND Capel comes... things will be looking fairly bleak for Lennon.

I wouldn't say that at all... I think the competition is exactly what he needs to step up a gear!

With, Lennon, Dos Santos, Modric, Steed we have excellent cover for both wings and several of those players are just as comfortable on both sides or in the middle. And cover and competition is just exactly what we've missed this season, using Steed, Lennon, Jenas, Tainio and Bale a few matches as our wingers show that we certainly miss something there.

Oh, and add Capel if that one happens too...

the rumours are Lennon's more likely to go than Steed. Pity, I like Lennon.

Problem i have with Lennon is that despite all the promise he showed when he was younger and despite his pace, he's kind of hit a brick wall when it comes to developing his technique any further.

It doesn't help that, in my opinion, he was playing way too far up the field, relying on our full backs to work it out as wing backs to keep up with him, when he should've maybe taken a look at how Ronaldo works, using his pace and technique to collect the ball short from the back and run through the midfield, instead of trying to pass it to Lennon and have him run into the corner and deliver a pretty poor cross, more often than not.

If Lennon could find another string to his bow then fair enough but at the moment he plays on the wing like someone who should be in the middle playmaking, but doesn't have the technique or physique to hold that role.

I dunno, he's good but Lennon is also probably the most frustrating Spurs player to watch for me (and most in the closet  )

Giovani dos Santos is ready to end his Barcelona career and the attacker has revealed that his agent has spoken with Chelsea.
The Mexico international is valued at £12.5 million after having only played a single season in the top flight.
The former Academy player does not feel wanted at Camp Nou and has expressed his admiration for The Premier League.
The 19-year-old has previously been linked to Tottenham and Manchester City.
When asked if he will play in England, Giovani told the Mexican press: “Everything seems to indicate yes.
“Obviously it is always tempting to go and play for important teams and most of all in England who have, to me, the best league in the world where everybody wants to play.”
The attacker confessed that Chelsea had held talks with his agent regarding a summer transfer.
“Yes, they spoke with my representative and they have always been following me, watching my way and they are interested in my services; I would like to play there, they are a great team.”
The youngster was part of the team who were booed by the Camp Nou fans in their last home game of the season, and he does not want to play for a club where he does not feel liked.
He added: “There are plenty of circumstances, things that as a player make you realise you need to feel a winner, an important player, valued, to improve.
"There are events that you cannot forget, like the fans’ treatment, nobody wants to be where they are not wanted.”

I'd be pissed if Chelsea nicked him now.
