He scored sunday and again tonight. He is our top scorer but yet people say he is shit, we should get rid of him etc. The guy is a class striker if he is playing regular and he gets the service he will always get goals.

He's far superior to Defoe.

So I'm a bit suprised people are calling for Defoe's return

I've liked Bent since his Charlton days and he's done nothing to change my opinion of him during his time at Spurs. He's not technically fantastic, but he is a goalscorer and every team needs one of those, someone who will take his chances when they come and - more importantly - get the messy/ugly goals that dig every team out. Hope he's a Yid for years to come.

Personally I dont know how he does it but he gets goals.

Bottom line is I think anybody should be able to see how somebody could look at him and say "he is shit" but at the end of the day the stats speak loudest and he does get goals.

Im pretty torn bout Bent. I think he offers absolutely nothing aside from his goals and he leaves the team stretched and wanting in the creativity department. At the same time he scores goals that we need at the moment.

I think we should have never bought him (especially not at the price we paid) but we have him now and he could be a real asset so we have to make the most of it.

People need to put Berbatov and Keane out of their heads when thinking about Bent. He is a goalscorer and a worker, it's up to the midfield to supply the opportunities and they are starting to now.

I have rated D Bizzle since his Charlton days, it's about time we gave him a break as fans.

It boggles me how Bent is always shat on by the majority of the fans, yet keeps taking his few chances. When people do their formations he very rarely even gets a starting place.

I have the utmost respect for Bent for not only all he's done, but also the way we stood his ground and by us, being 3rd choice for most of the season.

pacey, strong ,clinical finisher ( head and boot) , reads the game well and makes great runs into space.

the old fashioned poacher was never attractive to watch but we loved lineker and rush was a diamond.

He always looks more lively than Pavlyuchenko, and his movement is better too.

He's not technically brilliant, and will probably never be a world class striker, but he has some blistering pace, makes good runs and is good in the air, and if his build up play can keep on improving, doing the simple things well, then he will become a very good player.

Works his socks off for the cause. Scored three in three now. I can see him becoming very good with a partner upfront, hopefully Pav. I'm glad to have him at the club, and I think he gets a harsh deal by some fans because of what the club paid for him, and because he isnt Keane or Berbatov and hasnt scored 30 in a seaosn for us yet.

Hello Mullers.

On your thread last night I said then I didn't dislike him and thought he would score goals for us but imo does not bring enough to the side in terms of team play. I stand by that still. I am giving him credit but think he is not the player in the long term we should aspire to have as 1st choice striker.

Hope you don't think I'm sitting on the fence.

We have got to give the guy his due. His job is to score goals and he is doing it. Still got more than berbs and keane put together in the league. :)

The thing is though, Bent scored 13 league goals for Charlton in 06-07. That was more than Berbatov or Keane in that season. It is also 2 goals less than Berbatov and Keane scored in 07-08. The goals for Charlton were in a 4-5-1 formation as well. He really deserves to have his name up there.

Bent is poor i don't see how anyone can disagree with that he was our fourth striker and now he cant even get ahead of Pav.

Pav played excellent first half should have stayed on, thing about Bent u know he will be the first react if their defence makes a mistake which is good but he need to add much more to his game needs to takes some hints from Pav.

I can see him being like a Lineker, but with real pace. Someone who just gets goals. At the end of the season, somehow, he'll have a bag load.

Considering we have scored something like 16 goals, while the top teams have 2 or 3 times that, he's done really well to get as many as he had, and a lot of them are the types of goals Berbatov or Keane wouldnt get, they would be too busy outsside the box.
