It’s always a bit strange when Glenn co commentates on Spurs games. He seems to go out of his way to appear unbiased but overdoes it like a lover trying to convince others that they don’t care about their ex any more, when it’s perfectly obvious that there is still blue and white in his veins, and always will be.
One great memory of Glenn when I was standing on the shelf near the park lane end in the early/mid 80’s (can’t remember who it was against) - just below us by the touchline he had three opposition players around him. He dropped his shoulders did a pirouette and left them all in a heap, then sprayed a 50 yard ball on a sixpence to Galvin running down the left- it was awe inspiring and something no one can coach. Looking forward to the programme so cheers @Spurslove for the pointer.

Bless him he did that on a number of occasions. I've heard some people say he did it once against West Brom to such great effect that the whole of the West Stand had to pay to get back into the stadium. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Bless him. I always felt it was such a shame he never really got the international recognition he so richly deserved. Only 50 odd caps is a pretty paltry reward for genius of that category. Maybe he'll express his feelings about that too in next weeks film. ?‍♂️

Used to get to the Lane at 1.00pm on a Saturday when the gates opened to be sure I didn't miss the players coming out for the early warm-up. The things Hoddle would do with a football in those warm-ups were obscene (in a good way!). Was at Loftus Road one cold January afternoon for an FA Cup tie (ended up 0-0) Glenn received the ball on his chest in the centre circle facing his own goal, back to the QPR goal, and as it came off his chest he pinged it over his head, 40 yards inside the full back for our winger (can't recall if it was Galvin or Gary Brookes) to run onto, you could hear the gasps of amazement from both sets of fans. If there had been cameras there to pick it up it would be one of those clips that get replayed year after year. Incredible player.

My mind goes immediately back to our F.A. Cup semi-final victory over Wolves at Highbury in 1981, and the ball he laid on for Garth Crooks to run on to to score was as good as I've ever seen from anyone anywhere.

I remember there was a banner in the crowd that said 'Hoddle lays on more balls than Britt Ekland'. Classic.

A good watch. The whole Times interview that lost him his job still rankles. We know so much more about the press and how things work nowadays than we did back then. Did Hoddle say what he’s meant to have said, did the journalist lie or twist the words or was he just out to make a name for himself?

It wouldn’t happen nowadays for sure though. He was left hung out to dry by the FA. I still find it hard to believe it.

I always remember being away to Arsenal in the semi final first leg of the league cup in 87, we were winning 1-0 and in the last minutes they had a corner and he jumped up and calmly chested down in our own box, and played a blind 40 odd yard inch perfect blind ball for someone to run on to on the wing. He was my hero as a kid

Really good watch, some of those clips when he was at Monaco were brilliant. My biggest regret is I didn’t go to his last game against Oxford although I was at the feyenoord game when he wiped the floor with cruyff….the man was a genius.

Best player I have seen in a spurs shirt should have won far more England caps.
It was sad when he told Ossie that his regret was not winning the league with us and still nearly 40 years later still the same no title.

Forgot just how young he was to get the England job!
no wonder he was still the best player in training according to Scholes and Rio
