It was clearly a mistake for Harry to keep Gomes playing for over 20 minutes after his injury.

It's one thing to wait and see if a player will "run-off" an injury but quite another to leave him out there when he was clearly in distress.

Fortunately, Spurs didn't suffer because of this, but it could very well have been a different story.

It's Gomes' inconsistency regarding the extent of the injury that confuddles and exasperates though. No wonder Mr Redknapp was reticent to act immediately, albeit in hindsight, quite probably the wrong course of action.

Lay off him, he had no mobility after the injury ... if he had tried to stay on and let one people would of critisised...

If harry had brought him straight off we wouldnt be talking about this...

Did you intentionally post that like a 1940s Spitfire Pilot?

I know what people are saying, there's a bit of 'boy who cried wolf' about Gomes. He often makes a big deal out of tiny little knocks and niggles which makes you doubt how injured he is sometimes, even when he may be properly crocked. He's a victim of himself really, it's a shame as he was clearly injured last night, but I can understand Harry's reticence to sub him.

He said his calf muscle had gone. Anyone know how long they take to recover?

People are quoting all sorts of occasions when he was injured but played without seeing the irony of that, he seems to get injuries more than other keepers who might get an injury that keeps them out but they don't seem to get a string of them like he does.
Correct.
I think he's our best keeper since Big Pat but I can't think of any keeper for any side who get's so many injuries or believes he has so many injuries.
I love the fella but he may have "issues".

Yep the interview shows harry is not convinced about Gomes injuries .

Hint of cynicism there . I recall Gomes doing the change over sign to Harry
in the match , to which Harry did a sign to say '10 minutes' . This was mebbe 1/4 hour before half time and then Gomes didn't come back for the 2nd half .

Gomes was well pissed off with that near goal YBs had when there seemed to be a mixup with Daws .

If Gomes really is in bad pain then he could get a bit pissed off with all this .

Im sure he will have been injured, surely you wouldn't want to come off in such an important game, hell you would have to drag me off. It's just the reactions he shows sometimes that make you wonder, thats all.

Gomes has been a bit of a hypcondriact in the past so I can't blame arry totally for leaving him on. But after he rralised it was genuine he should have been more gracious of his player.

Is that fair?

I don't get it. Players are always rolling around as if they've been fucking shot - including our players - yet are rarely injured. (ie Hudd last night when he got clipped late then realised the ref wasn't going stop the game and jumped up and carried on playing) yet our keeper gets injured, gets forced to play on, and he's a pussy ?
