I'm no ITK merchant (although I'm a fan of the ITK thread!), but I met someone on Saturday who knows Tony Parks very well.

According to this bloke, Parks has been asked by Harry to help us look for a new goalkeeper and Redknapp's comments in the press are just to keep Gomes going until the end of the season - privately he wants to get rid.

Take it or leave it. It's hardly surprising news!

I'd rather Tony Parkes focussed on doing his job than deciding he can't be arsed and trying to just get a new keeper in.

I'm losing faith in our coaching staff more than I am in our players, Gomes has proven himself capable of being top class, it's his mental toughness that needs reinforcing and that's what coaches are supposed to be there for.

Just like I would rather you didnt spout this nonsensical crap like its truth. Parkes has 'decided he cant be arsed' ??

"Ah look I give up, Harry lets just get a new keeper, I couldnt be arsed doing my job"

Fucking Hell, there are alot of absolutely shit posts floating around this site at the moment.

I'd expect us to be looking for a new keeper this summer no matter what.

Carlo is an okay number two, but getting towards the end of his career.

Stipe's loan will be coming to an end, plus his recent comments would suggest even if he was offered a deal he would decline it.

Ben Alnwick has fallen so far from the first team I had to go to the official site to remember his name.

I seem to recall, though I may be wrong, reading that Gomes had only two years left on his contract at the start of this season and I can't recall reading he has signed a new one. Maybe he is refusing to sign a new contract and we want to sell rather than him walking away on a free in a years time.

So, all in all I'd expect a keeper to be brought in, even if it is only to give Gomes a bit of competition.

From Gomes when he came to Gomes these days there is a huge improvement so rest assured Tony Parkes has done his job, you just can't improve it when it ain't there in the first place.

He isn't good enough for us - not terrible but we could do better. I honestly think if you were ask 1 fan from every other team if they would swap the keeper they already have for Gomes they would say no.

Sorry, I would like to retrospectively add hypothetically to my original response. If the ITK is true I believe it is an alarming indication of the attitude of our coaches.

I agree there are a lot of shit posts recently, I'm fed up of the number of posts shooting down anything said that implies all isn't rosey in the Spurs garden at the moment.

I am not suprised. Arguably he cost us at least 4 points against Chelsea this year, he has had a nightmare. I think he has immense talent, but there is only so far you can keep saying "yeah, he makes some outstanding saves", too many howlers this year have cost us dear.

If the ITK is true - then Harry has asked Parkes to help them look for a new keeper. Not that Parkes has given up. How could you ascertain that this particular piece of ITK means Parkes 'couldnt be arsed' ?

Gomes' weaknesses are there for all to see, just too many schoolboy blunders. How does the coaching staff rectify that? No drill in the world will eradicate the occassional monumental fuck ups. I don't even agree with the school of thought that it's 'mental' and some sports psychologist will fix it.

Plain and simple, he just makes too many fuck ups.

Shit I read the ITK wrong, I read it as Parkes had thrown in the towel and asked Harry to start looking for a new keeper.

Hence my ascertion that Parkes should focus more on helping Gomes through this run of form.

so why are we using a goalkeeping coach instead of a phsycologist??

Ridiculous.
