Comical how undervalued he is by some on here.
Yes but I'm certain we can replace Winks with a superior player for £40m.

If he went to Man City he'd be on better wages but it wouldn't do his career much good as he'd get about as much game time as Phil Foden. A few League Cup and FA Cup games and possibly the odd 15-20 mins here and there when they are already 3 or 4 nil up against West Brom or Fulham or the Spammers in the PL.

I am guessing, but it's not like Man City haven't got plenty of past form for spending tens of millions on players and then leaving them on the bench, £40m might be a big deal for some, but for them it's no big deal. You're just guessing - City aren't spending £40m on a player to play a few fringe matches.

...that is homegrown as well. The CM area has been a bodge for.a.while. it is hard to judge Winks properly, this messed up.season. look back.at when he broke onto the scene and did so well. Personally I've seen enough to know what he brings, breaks up opponents play and is far more progressive with a good partner... as discussed to death.
But I'd be interested in knowing who.would be a superior player at 40m, in the cm position, that can be fairly judged, having played in a comparably bodged CM?
It would be their joint 6th highest transfer fee they've paid out.
City paid more for John Stones and Leroy Sane in 16/17, and they become regulars in the City team, I think not, and not so extreme examples, Bernardo Silva they paid more for, he often plays second fiddle, Jesus, he is only used when Aguero is injured and even Mahrez is not always a first pick, I could go on.....

De Bruyne, Ederson, Walker, Danilo, Mendy, Sane, Sterling, Stones, Laporte, Mahrez, Bernardo Silva and Rodri were all more. Not sure where you got this from.
That will teach me for trusting some dodgy site
