that's debateable at best and you failed to answer the question properly as one of our other strikers already has more goals that Crouch

I'm not talking statistics either I'm talking in terms of what they'd bring to the team overall the way they play
I just think that Keane, when on form, us a more creative player than Crouch, and is able to provide for the team, not just for himself.

that's all well and good but creativity aint really a problem right now and with this squad of attacking midfielders and forwards we have I doubt it ever will be

like I said there's nothing Keano can bring to the table that we don't already have and losing Crouch would mean losing a useful weapon that could come in handy unless he was replaced with a similar player

odds are Keano coming back would cause more problems than it solved

Perhaps it is also important to remember that Crouch isn't only an attacking 'weapon', defensively from set pieces he is a very important beanpole.

I fully understand your position and agree with you that Keano has been a great player for us

My main issue is the way anyone who says anything negative about Keano gets imediately jumped on and dubbed a mindless fool with the memory of an alzheimer's patient

I appreciate Keano and all he's done for Tottenham I just feel we don't need him anymore just like he felt he didn't need us anymore when the scousers came in for him

does that make me an ungrateful bastard?

Yes.

I'll take a leaf out of Martin Jols book when dealing with you

Am I allowed to call you a wanker? No

Am I allowed to think you're a wanker? You can think what you want

Well I think you're a wanker
He's a more prolific and highly respected wanker than thou.

I personally thought that Keane and Defoe looked pretty good at the start of the season and we were certainly winning as many games and playing a more entertaining brand of football than we did with Crouch and Defoe.

The problem was, Harry splashed out on Crouch and had to find a way to accommodate him and he was never going to drop Defoe, leaving Keane on the bench and looking for a way out.

There was numerous times during the dreary months of Crouch and Defoe that one or both of them should have been hauled off and Keane / Pav given more chances but unfortunately they weren't because they were Harry's guys.

Thank god Pav has made it impossible for Harry to drop him at the moment because Defoe and Crouch is combination I never look forward to seeing up front.

This is obviously right because Harry didn't pay more for Keane than Crouch did he? Oh wait a minute!

What's 'really really bizarre' about combining Keane with the most Berbs-esque striker we have at the moment?

Even you with your ridiculous anti-Keane bias can't think that Berbs and Keane weren't the best striking partnership we have had in years...

Because Eidur isn't a Berbesque player.

And it would be ridiculous Keane being anywhere near a a Spurs shirt. Nowhere nowhere near good enough, brave enough or productive enough to play for this great club. Celtic obviously yes, but Spurs do me a favour!

For crying out loud. No matter what the thread title is, sooner or later up pops Keano to hijack it again. Can't we just discuss the thread as per the original post. If you guys really really need it, just open a separate Robbie Keane forum or at least a sticky so that this "debate" can meander mindlessly around in entrenched circles without cluttering up everything else??????

See what happened there. I got hijacked too. Eidur looks a top top player with a fantastic footballing brain. I want him to sign on permanently in the summer. And as an extra bonus, snatching him out from under Wet Spam's noses might help to prise them out of the Premiership. Talk about a win win.

Is Gudjohnsen's contract at Monaco up at the end of the season?

What are the people who think Robbie Keane is past it doing in this thread because its pretty obvious they must have also felt the same about Eidur because he has been crap since he left Barca and is now too old at 31.

but Keane scored 4 against Burnley and we all thought "yes! here we go, the old keane is back".... then nothing, natta, zip, absolutely shit he was.
I assumed everyone, apart from the usual suspects, thought Burnley played like it was jumpers for goalposts, as they had done in previous away games, and that Keane had missed enough chances to make it 6.

Very rarely fortuitous to return home, especially when you've left in such acrimonious circumstances.

I felt the same about Kanu at WBA. Why did Harry bother buying him, when it was obvious that he was all worn out and decrepit?

I suppose it tells you why no one here is a professional football manager with more than nearly 30 years experience in the game.

I would like to sell Keane and Crouch, and buy one top top striker to go with JD, Eidur, Pav, then we would have know debates about Keane and Crouch,

Agree with you there Bryan. If we can get CL footie we need to strengthen with a couple of really class players.
Robbie has been a great servant to the club but he is like an ex girlfriend, you thought she was the love of your life but you broke up. You try getting back together but you can't get it out of your head that she was whoring around with a scouser and things just aren't the same. Unless she starts giving some blinding blow jobs it's time to call it a day and move onto the finnish tart up the road.

I think after keane comes back from celtic he will be back to his old self. Keane Gud upfront is better than Defoe Pav imo.
