Harry Redknapp cleared of tax evasion

Harry Redknapp said he lied to a News of the World Reporter
Harry Redknapp has been cleared of evading tax on payments made to his Monaco bank account.

The Tottenham boss had denied accepting secret untaxed bonus payments from former Portsmouth chairman Milan Mandaric, while he was club manager.

Mr Mandaric was also cleared of two charges of cheating the public revenue.

Jurors rejected prosecution claims the money was a bonus for selling Peter Crouch and beating Manchester United.

It can also now be reported that Mr Mandaric and Peter Storrie, Portsmouth's former chief executive, were cleared of tax evasion charges at a separate trial last October.

They were both accused of evading tax over player Eyal Berkovics's termination fee.

Mr Storrie was also accused of dodging tax on a signing-on fee to midfielder Amdy Faye when he moved from Auxerre to Portsmouth.

So, so pleased for Harry. Having his name dragged through the mud and facing a trial like this must have been really tough.

I think now more than ever is the time to get behind Harry and sing his name at every game.

And it has come to light that Mandaric & Peter Storrie were also cleared back in September of similar charges.

HR has had a pretty stressful last few months, notwithstanding the stent procedure performed on his ticker. I hope he and his family can put all this behind them and try get their lives back to normal.

P.S. Extra thanks to his Son Jamie for the vital unwavering support throughout the ordeal.

One can only imagine the shadow this case has cast over the club for the past few years. In fact, both Harry and the squad deserve recognition for their ability to compete at the highest level while dealing with this. So it does seem likely that this verdict could be very liberating and should see a side that has played rather dourly over the past few weeks, playing for fun this weekend.

So much for DanAshcroft making it out to be an Al Capone style trial....

Still disagreeing on a 'moral' level though i'm sure!

''One Harry Redknapp, there's only one Harry Redknapp, one Harry Redknapp'' I am just soooooooooooo.......so, happy for him

Just saw his short interview on SSN. He mentioned the Spurs fans about how special it was for him, hearing us sing his name during the Wigan game, the other night. He said that he'll never forget that :bowdown::bowdown:

Now let's get on with everyday life and onto our Premiership & FA Cup challenge.

What the helll happened to the other thread? It got locked.....

Anyway great news for us, i guess we now have to see whether he'll be offered and then take the England job.

Personally i think Harry would do a better job than Capello this summer. I think as a temporary role to cover for the Euro's i wouldn't mind seeing Harry take on England as well.

Frankly he does little training himself with the first team from what i gather (he's present obviously but the training is left up to the coaches) and i very much doubt he has long tactical sessions with his players.

I'm pretty sure he could do the England job up to the Euro's without it compromising either our season or next years pre-season.

Harry was delayed coming out of court as he was distributing Spurs season tickets to the jurors.
