As per, without clicking on the link - the headline doesn't appear to match the snippet. I mean, I know they sound similar but have they confused Carragher and Gerrard?

No its an article written by Carragher telling Kane not to tarnish his legacy like Gerrard almost did.

Who cares, his reputation is irrelevant. He wants to win trophies.

The defining moment of Sol Campbell’s career was leaving Spurs. It’s what people associate with him. People from all clubs. People win trophies every season. What characterises them is moments like this.

Hang on, the sky pundits who bang on about trophies and Spurs needing to win, affectively turning Kane’s head now are saying he shouldn’t leave it will damage his reputation.

I think after all this he will leave for a fee like £130m

I don't think City will pay that, at least not until the very last knockings, but I think they're hoping Kane stinks the place out so badly by then that they'll get him much cheaper. Shame that he's trashed his reputation and legacy but I guess he took Mourinho's advice, or more to the point 50% of it by leaving out the 'intelligent' bit.

At the end of the day it's what matters to him, who cares what some dorks on the Internet think he wanted to win trophies and he has. If he had stayed at Tottenham he would have been dusting off cobwebs in an empty trophy cabinet instead he's dusting cobwebs of trophies that he has won.

That’s the conversation he’ll have with himself every day. At the time Spurs fans were prepared for him to move to United. He made his bed.

He had just won a trophy with us the season before he left.

At the end of the day the majority of players want to win trophies I cried when Sheringham and left to go to Man United I hated him but over time I understood look all the trophies he won the same with Berbatov. Its just a job and people have to do what's best for them.

I guess it comes down to how the situation WAS so this is how I would look at it from 2 angles...

1a) General / Pundit view: A player of Kane's quality deserves to be winning trophies and after recent seasons, Spurs don't look like achieving that so realistically Kane should leave to fulfill that dream
1b) Fans view: As sad as this was for us as fans, we know he should be winning things and will always be remembered for what he did for us

But now with the current situation there is

2a) General / Pundit view: If he leaves he will be remembered for how he went about leaving by being AWOL in his first week of training no matter how many trophies he goes on to win, ie., Campbell won various trophies at Arsenal but is always remembered for how he went about leaving Spurs
2b) Fans view: Despite the original feelings of 1b) most fans will be disappointed at how he has acted and tried to force the transfer. Not to the 'judas' level of Campbell of course but as someone who was always viewed as being a perfect role model and fan favourite, in the space of a matter of days he has destroyed how many have felt about him for years

We can accept that to a point. But there’s still decisions to be made about how you do this. Campbell got it wrong in our eyes. Kane is getting it wrong. Modric was getting it wrong and somewhat redeemed himself.

Well what is doing it right? Being held to ransom by a corporation? Basically being at Tottenham is being held in a dead end job with no benefits. Look what Modric has gone on to achieve since leaving Spurs, even Kyle Walker. When they end their careers they will be happy they didn't stay at Tottenham.
