Taking nothing away from Ireland, but I really hope he pushes into the first team for Spurs and dons the England shirt.

He's 29 in October so its touch and go whether he makes another world cup, although Englands record of flogging dead horses at major championships almost guarantees he will be.

The advantage Kane has is that there is no one else who can play his Sheringhamesque role so if he can keep improving he could end up as first choice with one of the others to partner him.
Or, at least, he will be the first choice attacking sub if we want to bring on a second forward.

But it would be good to see more Spurs players representing England.

I would have thought that if Sturridge or Wellbeck were injured then Berahino would get a call up and if Rooney or Lambert get injured, Kane (or Wickham) would get a call up. That is assuming that Hodgson and the FA aren't a bunch of muppets.

With Rooney being 29 and Lambert 32, it looks better for Kane than Berahino.

Never assume, it makes an Ass Out of U and Me….! I still believe that the FA have an input into team selection for bums on Wembley Seats. Although if that is the case, its not working anymore after the last match…..

I'm amazed Berahino hasn't been capped yet tbh. I suspect he could play for someone else too although I doubt the FA are quite as concerned about DR Congo nicking their players.

Harry Kane is more likely to play for England but I'm not sure he'll get much support from England managers, anyway I'd rather our players didn't have to play internationals.
