Thought Kane played really well tonight, he hasn't seemed out of place at all when he's been brought on this season either.
Interesting to see that Townsend, Rose and Kane are showing no fear and grabbing the chances that are coming their way. We should have more faith in our youngsters!

If AVB gave Defoe a shot based on his past performances, surely he should do the same for Kane? Give him a shot at the games when we rest Soldado

You could argue that he should have moved above Defoe in the pecking order after that performance, but we know he probably wont. I'd like to see him get more games now, but at the same time, another loan where he can play every week will improve him even more.

To be fair he's winning me around. I never thought he'd have a future at Spurs after (admittedly) a few performances last season. But he came on against Cardiff and looked decent and he was very good tonight too. Would definitely like him on the bench more often for PL games if possible and should start at least in the hole against Sheriff.

I thought he looked very Sheringham-esque tonight.

And if that Hurrikane he released had gone in, there'd have been a lot of this..

to perk up the White Hart Lane crowd tonight.

I think he's a really clever player.

Simple and effective. He's a fantastic finisher too.

Amazed how many people have wrote him off already. Especially considering he's still only 20 and has continued to develop without any blips.

I'd rather see him play than Defoe right now, my Defoe tolerance has reached overload, but I'm not sure I'd describe what I've seen from Kane so far as "fantastic finishing". Just about every time I've seen him he's wasted great chances.

I know he had a great record as a kid and I hope he can come good, not sure he will for us though, long term.

I said a few weeks ago that I was really impressed with the improvement that Harry Kane had shown over the summer and I expected big things from him this season,I hope tonight was just the start.

I'd love to see us play a 4-4-2 against Sheriff with Defoe playing off Kane. Defoe needs a big guy to play off of and is really miscast as a lone striker. He has his qualities, but Target Man does not suit the little man.

Obviously not afraid to take the shot on, we need more of that. Too many of our players seem scared to shoot from 18-25 yards. We're not talking 40 yard potshots, we're talking genuine goalscoring opportunities.

Good player. Probably won't ever be great, but there is a very able young centre forward in there.

Good call, they need a striker.

However, Defoe will probably kick up a fuss in Jan so he can get a WC place, and Ade is so out of favour I can't see him getting back in. We might need Kane ourselves.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind using the rest of the Europa Group Stage, and maybe even West Ham in the quarters, as an audition for the Hurrikane. If he performs, loan Defoe out in the Winter and keep sweet ole Sugar Kane. If he fails, loan him to Hull (or some other lower rung premiership).

Looks strong on the ball and has a great shot on him. I was impressed with his performance against Cardiff a month or so back. Definitely an option from the bench

Kane didn't look up to it last season when he featured but the few times I've seen him this season for us and the under 21s, he has improved massively. Looks a lot stronger, composed on the ball and can finish.

I cba with Defoe's shoddy half arsed performances anymore ... I personally would play Kane in the Europa/Capital One Cup and put him on the bench in place of Defoe for the next couple of Prem games.
You simply can't argue with Defoe's record in Europe, so he needs to start until he leaves the club if that is in the next season.

Kane was terrific against Cardiff, and again tonight from what I saw.

As you've said, he's grown stronger and his centre of gravity seems to have become lower meaning he looks far more coordinated, and actually looks like he has a purpose.

Another academy prospect for the first team, c'mon Harry!

Still only 20 but has come on by leaps and bounds since he first appeared for Spurs first team in EL under HR (with last season being a low due to injuries).

This season he's made 5 appearances (includimg tonight) and looked decent in several - tonight in 15 minutes at the end of normal time and 30 minutes in extra time he had a goal disallowed (Defoe handbal), almost broke the crossbar with a fantastic shot and then scored with a placed shot after beating two men, capping it with scoring his penalty in the roof of the net.

On the night more than Defoe did in 120 minutes.

He looks far stronger than I remember and much less awkward whenh moving - far more co-ordinated, and a great shot on him plus he can pass well and link play.

I'd like to see Kane playing a big part in the 3 remaining EL group matches and be on the bench for some other matches - with experience at Spurs this season he could be a very decent 3rd striker for Spurs next season.

However I cannot see AVB giving up on Defoe - especially with Defoe saying every day 'I need to play to go to Brazil', and then there is Adebator....

If Defoe or Adebayor (or both if a new striker comes in) leave in January, I think Kane can stay and play a decent bit part for Spurs this season, but its difficult to see if AVB can use the 4 enough.

Always defended the kid, to be honest he looks like he has accelerated his progress over the last year. I dont get this 'there 19 and not in the first team, fuck them off' attitude. Townsend, your new God, 22 before he made an impact on the first team. Barca generally do the same, 21/22 when they bring the youngs through.

Anyway, im 31, and Kane is the most promising young striker i have sen us start to bring through. And i remember us having to play Rory Allen and Neil Fenn up front at Old Trafford and thinking Neil Fenn looked like he would be alright, while swallowing a load of pills and voddy because that was the strike 'force' we were taking to the leage champions.

Honestly, these times are golden to me

Let him and Ade compete for the 2nd striker spot. Loan Defoe to QPR now then sell him to then as soon as the window opens. Get him off my team. Offers absolutely nothing. I think I'd offer more than Defoe out there and the last time I played soccer was at center back in the town youth league when I was like 8, so about 13 years ago, and I was fucking horrible, if I may say so myself.

Honestly cant remember your opinion on him the last couple of years. For me he's been well thought of for a while, been around the first team, loaned out, for the last few years.

Some fans seem to give him stick because he didn't burst onto the scene like a Michel Owen but as you say, he is still only 20. 12 plus years at the top left with luck.

I think the problem was that people we're, and are always, looking for an 'out an out' striker, and he isn't that (when did we last produce a good one of them? Honestly?) He has got stronger tho, seems to have good tsch and is now adapting to a wide forward roll under AVB.

I think he still looks like an international/premier forward. What do you think?

*please check my posts if you think inm jumping on a fairly promising performance

**please check 'Spurs Community' because i feel i need to justify this opinion despite beig a reasonably known contriuter. Soooo many knee jerkers these days.

I'd put him on the bench against Everton. That will be a really tough game and an attacking sub with brains and confidence could prove to be a very useful option.

In the longer term, he needs regular games. If we wont give him that then we should be looking to loan him out so he can continue his development. Hopefully we'll see much more of him in the next couple of seasons. Hopefully.

I'm waiting for the huge brigade of Harry-haters who usually turn up and shout something like 'Championship player!' or 'Too slow and he's crap!' before scuttling off to hide under their rocks.

I've said it before but Kane's good enough to be a bench option for us already, and not just in the cups. He did a hell of a lot more than Defoe did and Defoe played about an hour more than him.

Kane is a solid young striker with a great eye for goal, a classy shot, and good feet He's not the fastest but he doesn't need to be as he plays around the D. I actually think he'd partner up with Soldado quite well if given the chance.

If we're not going to play Ade, as seems to be the case, then we need a forward option other than Soldado who is capable of doing something with the ball. Defoe does not work with our current system and frankly is like playing with ten men in games like this.

Time will tell if he has got what it takes, if he is given time that is....but i don't really get your 'hide under the rocks' quote...he did well against a team that is really 'championship' standard,if your honest..thats what his knockers were saying he is capable of...as you say.
