I‘d wish him well, but if he did go and Bayern didn’t win anything that would be delicious

Why would that be delicious? I don't get this bitterness at all.

I mean statistically anything is possible. I could run into Beyonce tomorrow, she could fall in love with me and we could be married by next Friday. Probably not the most likely thing though.

Similarly, we could be about to win some trophies. Our 2 trophies in the past 30 years suggests its not that likely. Our trajectory in the past few years suggests likewise. I can't be bothered to count the number of trophies Bayern have in that same time period but Bayern have 3 CLs and 1 UEFA cups in the same time period.

People seem to be genuinely surprised that a top sportsman, one of the best players in his position, wants to win trophies and that its all media driven. I assume they think that people go to the olympics to come 6th or the world cup to lose the 3rd place play-off.

I don’t think Richy and Maddison have played a single minute together in pre season. If Kane is in any way close to going, he can’t start.

Tbh if Kane goes to Bayern I'll be backing him and hoping he wins trophies, just as I did Bale at Madrid. I find the whole "bUt hE hAsN't wOn aNy tWofEes" narrative deeply irritating so I'd like to see a player of his brilliance actually win something in his career.

If he goes to a PL club on the other hand, fuck no. Hope he wins nothing.

Until Harry is sold officially, the club will carry on as usual. Imagine they took all his shirts off display; people would 100% know something is afoot.

Let's hope any potential sale gets wrapped up quickly, all this speculation is getting tedious. One way or another, confirm whether he is off or staying and then stick to it.

You'd surely get an "are you sure?!" eyebrow raise if you tried to actually drop £70 on a Kane shirt today.
I’m still annoyed about buying a Keane 10 shirt a week before he left for Liverpool and he was doing his I’ll never leave routine at the time

Surely none of the parties involved can’t risk him being on the wrong end of a mis-timed tackle that could do his ankle and scupper the whole deal. There’s no way he plays tomorrow if the deal has been struck.
Ha, and I wouldn't put it past Romero to kick him!

A lot of people being very bitter towards our greatest goal scorer and one of our greatest ever players. If he’s going let’s give him a good send off & move on.
...but not at the expense of other players' preparedness for the new season. I'm not bitter towards him at all but this isn't some testimonial - we're well behind on our pre-season compared to other teams and the players who are actually part of the team going into the season need full-tempo minutes in their legs and to play together in a totally new system.

I agree, but what is obvious, in my opinion, is that players, no matter how much they claim to love the club, aren't 'fans'.

Fans don't switch clubs. Maybe I'm naive in this respect.

This is naive for sure.

Kane is a fan but he is a world class sportsman first and foremost and this is his job. A player that is at the level of Benzema/Lewandowski. A fan would be happy to have a kickaround at WHL and be done with that.

Him being a fan means we've had a lot longer with such a player than the likes of Benzema/Lewandowski would ever have afforded us without regularly competing for the biggest trophies.

It’s business at the end of the day. We are a professional football club. If someone isn’t going to be here this season we don’t have time for sentiment.

Lloris shouldn’t play either. Happy for him to have a send off at half time or something, but this is a warm up game at the end of the day, and like you said we are already behind other teams.

Club shop full of Kane stuff including shirts with the new (?) font. Having said that, if he leaves might be people’s last chance to buy one so makes sense.

I think very very few footballers are fans in the way that non-footballers are fans.

They have to separate their fandom from their livelihood and by virtue of being part of the football world the way they view the game is completely different from the match-going public.

Cases where a player picks to go to a team, stay to a team, or make any kind of crucial decision for 'fan' reasons rather than financial/career reasons are extremely rare.

I don't think Kane being a 'fan' of Spurs has played into him staying at the club at all, tbh. When he signed the 6 year deal in 2018 we had a great project, a top manager, were challenging near the top of the league and he was happy in London with a young family. Highly doubt fandom played a significant part in his decision-making, if any.

‘You know that shirt that Harry Kane never played a competitive game in, well I’ve got that shirt with his name and number on it”

one to tell the grandkiddies 😂

Gotta get rid of it before it goes on sale

So you wouldn’t cheer off our clubs record EVER goalscorer, come off it.
I wouldn’t. It’s fucking weird to me. If he was retiring, of course. Not when he’s been trying to get out for two years now and hasn’t seen out the contract he signed voluntarily.

I’d be more inclined to cheer him off if he stays the extra year of that contact and then moves to Madrid/Barca on a free as that would be honouring his commitment and respecting the club.

I respect your opinion, but at the same time, this is mental to me (the second paragraph, particularly). :)

I don't think fans can be too precious about players honouring their commitments and respecting the club when they're also happy to disrespect and boo players like Sanchez and Royal and demand that the club sell any players they deem to be unworthy, even if they've been loyal servants for years.

Not saying you've personally done that to those players, but the double standards from a big section of our fanbase when it comes to loyalty is huge. So many fans demand full loyalty from the players but offer absolutely none in return.
