I'm not entirely convinced by the narrative that Kane never steps up in the big games. Although he will drop into midfield when he needs to, and is obviously an amazing no.10, he is primarily there as the striker, so he is not going to be able to influence games in the way Messi or Ronaldo did in their prime.

In the big cup matches he was either not really fit (CL Final) or simply starved of supply. I can't really remember him fluffing chances which he would normally bury in the high pressure moments.

Whenever I've watched Bayern this season, Kane has been surrounded by egos always looking to score themselves ahead of passing to him. That club is a mess because of the characters in the dressing room and their sense of entitlement.

If they built the team around Kane and his professionalism, they would be a real force.

Totally agree with that take on Kane, I’ve also heard narratives from non Spurs fans saying how overrated he is and selfish etc: my driving instructor has this take and he’s a friggin Plymouth Argile fan!

It’s not with my Spurs bias but I find a lot of the anti-Kane stuff irrational and weird. Heightened even more so with the tribal nature of modern day football and everyone can have a go approach on social media etc.

I would love him to come back one day, however, being realistic it will probably be at a time he wraps up his career. The majority of Spurs fans living now will be talking about him decades down the line with family & friends reminiscing remember that goal against Arsenal (which one? Etc) where were you at the time etc.

The most impressive thing for me about Kane is that he likes proving people wrong and if people get bored of him scoring, oh he’s selfish etc, for me that just adds to why once he retires he will be talked about as one of the all time greats of the game.

Would we be with him still here though? We're only 11 points off Arsenal. I feel like Kane would be worth that many points to us in the season up till now.

Ultimately we're both speculating. I'm just not seeing why a player like Kane would want to be at Bayern Munich right now. They won't win CL, maybe a Bundesliga next year but even that is no guarantee.

As for why he'd come back to us, well if he wanted to come back to England surely we'd be the best option.
If he comes straight back he looks like a failure, so there's no way he will come back next season. He will want to see who the next manager is and he'll want to kick on next season for sure.

Being second best paid player in Europe helps too.

He's one of the best players of his generation - anyone who says otherwise is trolling or wrong. My theory about how he's not won anything (which I think can be easily summarised as it has been above by "he's not played for the best teams" before this season) comes from his interview with Neville - the argument that they "weren't men" enough for Mourinho - and his response of "you have to win" at Bayern. Are they quotes that are potentially miconstrued? Sure, but the guy wanted Mourinho in and then when that blew up he wanted out himself. To me, they suggest Kane doesn't accept that it's his responsibility to alter the collective mood if you're a figurehead in the dressing room.

I think - and this is a half baked theory I'm not fully sure about - that the singular minded commitment that turned him from a figure of fun into one of the greatest players of all time might isolate him a little bit in a team environment. The collective spirit that Sonny has overseen this year (with help from Ange) should've been what Harry delivered as the defacto leader.

If he'd taken up tennis, he'd have won Wimbledon.

Thought I’d post this here ahead of Kane playing for Bayern vs Arsenal tonight.

Kane is one CL goal away from being level on the all-time CL goal scorers chart (35th with 27 goals) with Ryan Giggs, Alvaro Morata and Jean Pierre Papin.

Also, only 2 goals away from levelling with Wayne Rooney (27th with 29 goals) incidentally will become joint top scoring Englishman, also joins the likes of Kaká, Samuel Eto’o and Francisco Gento.

Come on Harry!!!

Let him have a season at Bayern winning a league trophy, then swap him for Son. He won’t come back here until he has won something imo.
