What would you say he'd be worth at that point?

If stadiums re-open, as planned, more than he is now.

There are two types of valuation in this world:

a) what people are willing to pay
b) what the seller is willing to accept

I guess the real question is, what is two seasons of Harry Kane worth to a club? Our CL final run brought in nearly £100m itself, so it's not hard to see why it wouldn't be worth us selling voluntarily.

It’s mental that people think winning the Euros with England will quench his thirst for trophies. I remember growing up as a randy teenager looking at the girls and gagging for a shag. When I got one, I honestly can’t remember thinking “that’ll do, don’t want another one of those for a while!”. If England win the Euros the thirst for trophy’s will just increase. I think he’ll be here next season but without an absolute miracle, I think that’ll be all she wrote.

If he leads England to victory and extinguishes 55 years of hurt, perhaps he may just believe he could cull 60 years of hurt since Spurs last won league.

Probably not though, dreams like that dont turn to reality.

The issue we have is that financially football has taken a downturn. Barcelona and Real are not the financial powers they were nor is there much money in Serie A atm. That leaves only the oil clubs as a possible destination and they won't spend like they used to if all their competitors are now only able to spend half of what they used to.

3 years ago Kane would have deserved a 200m bid, but that money no longer exists. Sancho has gone for a lot less than what we'd expected and Mbappe is likely winding down his contract to become affordable. Kane probably won't go this summer even though City could afford £150m. They'll wait for next year when he'll have a shorter contract and be worth less than £100m.
I don’t think that he’ll be that much cheaper if his return is still so high

Isn't that what he did with Kate, basically?

Why would he go to united? Since his first full breakthrough season 2014/15 they have won an fa cup, league cup and europa league. They won’t improve that over the rest of his career either imho. i Don’t believe this is the level of trophy he craves winning, it’s the league and champions league so it has to be city or Chelsea and I can’t see him moving to Chelsea.
I think it’s city at 150m or he stays another season and we go through this again...

I completely agree with this.
Maybe HK will agree to wait one more year, maybe he will dig in and demand a move.
Not sure I can see him demand a move- it depends on how he's treated at the meetings etc.
Either this summer or next I fully expect him to leave (if we don't improve x10) and if he continues to give his best like Luka did in his final year- he will go with full blessings as after next summer his value will drop due to the length of his contract remaining

Who knows what Kane’s thinking, however I do think having the crowds back this season will help him. From his interview the other day about it’s nice to be wanted and loved, well having no crowd singing his name week in week out for the last 18 months wouldn’t have helped.

Part of me feels there is a similarity with when Henry wanted to leave Arsenal.

I remember reading an article from Wenger saying he was rebuilding something really good but Henry said he respected it but he didn't want to be part of another rebuild so went to Barcelona.

It sounds like Kane was really behind Jose and saw this as a chance to bring us to the top. But it didn't work out. It wouldn't surprise me if Kane is unsure about another new start with Spurs and is considering a move to the top.

Obviously there are numerous differences between Henry and Kane leaving but the biggest one is Henry went for a modest fee considering his ability, Kane is looking at a world record fee.

Let’s not forget it’s the World Cup in 16-17 months

Win or lose tonight, surely the World Cup would b in his sights and consideration. As he said himself, England over club.

If I’m Levy, Paratici or Nuno, I’d say “well done for euros lad, now let’s get you ready to win the World Cup. Let’s not rock the boat n family, time to acclimatise. We have here a supportive, stable and familiar environment for you to thrive in (including knowing how to treat and take care of your ankles). And oh, we’ll make you captain, and after the World Cup, you decide your future. ”

Then do whatever it takes and spend this coming season getting us back to champs league + squeezing every pound of revenue post covid to build a team for Kane post winter World Cup so that he wants to stay. And even if he doesn’t, we have prepared for that.

I just can't see anyone stumping up the cash this summer. End of season he was easily £150m. If he wins tonight, bags two to win the golden boot and becomes the all time record goal scorer at tournaments for England it's upped to £200m minimum. Who will be paying for that after being hit by COVID financially? Nobody.

The second biggest one is that Henry left at 30, which is around the time his contract with us expires. Similar to Sheringham, except that was at 31 when he went to United.

The main one is the personal records Kane's close to with us (which he seems obsessed about) and that we've basically been his only club.

I think there is a chance Kane will be sold this summer if he really wants out. Man C are financially insulated so can still afford to pay a world record fee for him (e.g. £150M+). Levy will know that his stock will never be higher than it is now (with 3 years left) and if Paratici can be clever and spend that money on 5 or 6 players without anyone getting wind of our new found wealth, we could get players who will potentially be world class at value prices.

For example, for £150M we could potentially sign:

Kounde
Lacroix / Milenković
Damsgaard / Aouar
Vlahović / Ings

We'd still need to offload another 6 or 7 players to trim the squad (Dier, Sanchez, Aurier, Alderweireld, Sissoko, Winks, Lamela) giving us more funds to improve any other areas of weaknesses.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather Kane stayed at least another year, I just think that Levy will look at history and know that clubs are usually best off selling players who want out at their peak and moving on quickly.

Apart from Ings that’s a list of players that have never played in the prem. if we sold Kane and bought those players I’d be seriously underwhelmed. If we sell Kane we need to spend £70m+ on a proven striker. Not sure who the name is though. Would then spend the rest (£80m+) on a world class No.10 and creative midfielder. That should then get us close to replacing Kane. Defence needs to have its own budget regardless of Kane sale.

I hear what you are saying and, as I said, I'd rather he stayed. But we cannot replace him with one player. We can only make the overall team stronger. I outlined how from just his sale we could fix the defence (Kounde and Lacroix to play alongside Rodon) and get a number 10 (Damsgaard or Aoua) and a CF (Ings or Vlahovic). They key thing to point out is that we'd potentially get another £100M+ from the 7 players we could also sell to sign 2 additional top tier players in other areas of weakness.
