I enjoy your post immensely but have to differ with you on whether his legacy has been damaged. It clearly has been damaged and the question is is how much of it can be recovered. He is a phenomenal player and we were lucky to have him as part of our team.

The question is how much of it can be recovered. Personally I think he can still do things which bring people back into his corner but I would also think a sizable percentage of individuals will never hold him in the esteem they used to.

I would also agree that he will continue to produce at levels that few can replicate in the league because of his ambition and drive. But legacy is a function of the observer more than it is of the player.

Appreciate that. Agree with you, he is a phenomenal, maybe even generational English player.

I just don't see it that way on the legacy side of things. Modric, Bale, Berbatov, Carrick, Gazza, Klinsmann, Hoddle, Sherringham - the names go on. Fact is, they have a legacy within, and without, Spurs. How many have unstained legacies? What is his crime? Wanting to win things? Hard for me to be pissed at that. I expect that every season from Spurs and remain disappointed so often. I refuse to blame the player for stuff his management team does. If he stays, he will put his head down and get the job done. He will know, window is closed (both transfer window and this opportunity). He is on 7 consecutive years of most goals for Spurs. He is second only to Henry in Golden Boots.

A person's legacy is their context in history. It is not a moment in time. Some feel he is being disloyal. Most will come around. Some will be forever spurned. All fair. I believe, in the context of history, his legacy is already there. Whether it gets to the point of EPL legend, Spurs legend or England legend, is still to be determined.

Leighton Baines has both his legacy with Everton and Wigan. He is also an Everton Legend

We fans have the luxury of new aspirations, goals, dreams every season. We get a restart every year. Whether 15 or 55. Players have but one career. I will not begrudge any player wanting to win things elsewhere when they have given everything to the club while they were there. Kane, when compared to any other Spurs player, can hold his head up high. Legacy is safe.

Personally, I would love to see him stay and become a legend, top PL and Spurs scorer of all time.

Don't care about getting one over on city or Kane not getting his way, all I care about is spurs having the best season they can. I think they achieve that better with Kane gone, the cost of disgruntled disinterested squad members leaking shit to the press all the time has been evident over the last couple of seasons.

For that reason I want him gone and I want the club to move forward from him. Hopefully City still stump up the cash soon.

Totally agree. There’s no ego or spite in my judgement here.

I think, especially in the long term, we’ll be better if we cash in now

Still would hope Kane is professional enough to play as effectively as possible, too much to lose in WC year etc etc. Also think better with him than trying to replace him, look how Bale money was spent, 7 signed, how many deemed successful? Also next to near impossible replacing the leagues top scorer and assist maker in less than 10 days.

This is exactly why we should tell City to bugger off now. We don't have time to get (decent) replacements, and those clubs we buy said players from as well. It's been left far far to late now.

Quite amusing to see all the papers twisting the context of Guardiola’s words yesterday to say that he is happy without Kane. It is plastered over nearly every tabloid back page.

Personally I'm in the "Kane out" camp, but I can't wait for the Bluemoon meltdown if he's on our bench for tomorrow's game.

Those horrible little shits deserve nothing but pain for the way they assumed we'd roll over and have our bellies tickled in regards to the cost of Kane. I hope they end the season striker less and have an absolute shocker with 13 World Class attacking midfielders and not a lot else.

Rather have Lautaro Martinez and Vlahović instead of Kane who wants to leave, but since those 2 won't happen he will probably stay. Weird market this summer.

The sheer entitlement of them just pisses me off tbh, I'm sure it's not all their fans.... o_O

If we were the recipients of that people on here would be screaming media 'agenda' against us :D

My feeling is-citeh not likely now…?⌛
Despite the animosity he’s generated over the last few months, I’ll happily take that. New contract with a release clause that kicks in next summer, and we don’t have to throw all our efforts into recruiting a replacement just yet. Spend the money we’ve been told is there on strengthening defence and midfield. If we’re playing a 433, then we’ll need another WF- the ‘Georgian lad’ looks really useful. Skilful enough to maybe unpick teams that sit back, but direct enough to damage teams when we play on the counter. Key thing has to be: get new acquisitions in as quick as possible (Aouar/ Sarr, another WF, CB and RB). And if we can ship Ndombele out on loan, so be it. And please, let’s get rid of Winks and Sissoko. I’ve made my piece with Dier staying- at least he’ll beat the crap out of any Chelsea players that stray near him

I can see hin going to City very late, a la Berba. But cos it's such a ridiculous offer we have no other option but to accept. However, to smooth things over they give us Jesus on loan for the season. Also quite Berba, but Jesus is a bit better than Frazier Campbell.

Thanks for the info. I still have a nasty feeling they'll meet the price on deadline day and we'll sell. Leaving us with no time to bring anyone else in. Their way of getting their revenge for us not bending over earlier for the £100m.

Why would they prefer ‘revenge’ against us to getting their target signed and playing in City colours. They need him ASAP as the league is going to be tight at the top this year. Similar to when people say Chelsea make signings to spite us it’s just not how things work in my opinion.

Not a massive fan of Jesus but he is 10x better than Frazier Campbell was when loaned to us.
