I think the other way to think about this from Kane's perspective:

If he were a free agent right now - would he rather sign with Spurs or Bayern?

It's easy to say, wait a year, and go anywhere - but what happens if he does an ACL or injures his ankles again next spring? Sometimes its better to take what is available and eliminate the risk.

If he's going to the Bundesliga hoping to win a Ballon d'Or, he might want to have a look at where the Ballon d'Ors go before he signs anything...
He hasn't come close at Spurs... I think 10th is his best.

Lewendowski was 3rd a few seasons ago - but without Messi and Ronaldo dominating the voting, it will be more open.

Is it controversial to say that Prem all time top scorer trumps Ballon d'Or? One of those awards lasts a year, the other will likely stand for decades.

Ballon d'Or winners are more universal. PL top-scorer is more important in England.

As I said yesterday, I have absolutely zero on this situation so I honestly don't know what's going on. As you say, they've probably been encouraged by a certain clown that Kane would be interested in joining them. Maybe he feels it's a guarantee of a title. Maybe he will take a couple of years away and then look to return. It just baffles me that he would potentially sacrifice the top PL goalscorer record. But I guess only he knows what's important to him. I imagine it would take upwards of £80m for us to accept however. And if we do sell him, it's a terrible time when looking for a replacement with no CL etc. I guess we would have to sell the vision and hope to attract someone with huge potential like Ferguson. Who knows what will happen!
I can completely see the appeal of BM, they are one of the biggest teams in the world, but like you say he would just have so many more reasons to see out the season and move next summer. Even if he’s not driven by money, Kane on a free could command a significant contract + signing on fee. That plus the PL record as you say. One can only assume that he is just done with us and doesn’t have the stomach for another rebuild and learning a new system when mentally he’s already checked out. Personally I struggle to believe BM will offer enough as this would be by far the largest they will have ever paid, Sane for €49 mil is their current record. I know leading up to this window they were saying how now is the time to start spending big but £80+ mil on a 30 year on with 1 year left is a different kettle of fish. Ultimately I’d me more surprised by BM offering enough money then I would by Kane accepting even tho logically waiting out the season seems the more sensible option. At 30 I think he’s just fed up of waiting around.

If he wants to go, fine. Let him go. He’s done all he could here & we, as per usual with our world class players, failed him. So sell him, bring in Tabsoba, Chiesa & Jonathan David. Sign VDV, Tosin & Scott as well. That’s a great rebuild. And dare I say, one that will win a trophy.

There is a common denominator as to why we continue to fail these players but that’s for a different thread on a different day.

By the way, when Kane comes back to the prem in 2 years, the only club i can accept him going to is City. United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool & ill view him like Poch & Sol. Just hope he knows that.

Maybe he has literally had enough of Spurs! Maybe the last thing he wants is another season here and Levy has told him it’s abroad or you’re staying put. So they are looking to get out now. Who knows, maybe Chelsea have talked and stated they will buy him in a years time? They have the money to buy anyone.

He could come back in two years and still break it in all honesty.

Blows my mind if as Herc suggested we sell and he actually moves his family to Germany and potentially sacrifices the chance to be the all-time PL goalscorer 🤯
I just can't see him making the move there personally. Madrid maybe if that were an option, otherwise I think he'd want to stay in England

I look forward to him getting stranded in Munich if he's going to put his faith in such a gentleman's agreement. If he goes to Germany, he has to go presuming that he's spending 5 years there. Nobody should know that better than he.

I think all the Bayern move does is delay Kane's move to one of our rivals as I can't see him lasting any more than a couple of years there, success or not. Although I think that's clearly preferable to him leaving on a free and by next summer. At least if Bayern tie him down to a long contract then the English clubs will have to pay a lot to get him back here.

I can see how this plays out, Bayern hit a number that we deem acceptable and Utd put in a bid just under that the day after it's accepted; Kane says he's not interested in the BM move but is open to the other the ball's then left in DL's court.

(honestly it smells of Utd to me)

He says no and lets Kane go on a free next season or gets had over by Utd again.

I know he could go there in a year for nothing anyway my question is will they hang on a year for him?

My preference keep him and if he goes on a free no hard feelings (unless it's a London club) or he re-signs.

It's crazy to me that so many people would rather see us weakened by selling our best player for 80m so that "we could get something for him". What's the point of supporting a team? Spurs make enough money that Kane leaving for free wouldn't be the end of the world financially.

I would be unbelievably disappointed if we sold him and didn't take one last crack at winning a cup with him in the team. He deserves to win a trophy with Spurs. If this is the last hurrah, so be it.

But I'd much rather have a go at winning something than have 80m to spend on a replacement.
There's a pretty good chance we're not winning anything next season. Kane here or not it's a transition season imo. I don't think we'll win anything, but I do understand those suggesting CL is possible with Kane here, now there's 5 spots up for grabs. There's probably a 90-95% chance he leaves on a free if he stays, so there's an argument that we should start the full rebuild now and then be ready to compete the season after with not too much spending required.

The question is will the fans be patient with Ange if things get rocky. I think he might get more support if there's entertaining football at least.

He goes to Bayern then he has a serious chance of the German treble and a real chance of winning the CL. He may believe it's worth giving that two years and see from there and who could blame him.
Replacing him is going to be very difficult if he does go, be it this yr or next yr.

Didn’t Utd wait and still take Van Nistelrooy when he got a bad injury just as he planned to sign for them?
