Yeah. I’d say that is a bit overly romantic and having worked with footballers for 20 years, I haven’t met one who would make such a compromise just to appease a fan base for the future. Keeping fans happy is always the “cherry on top”.I might be being very naive here, but i genuinely think his feelings for the club/fans have pushed him to go to Bayern. By going there he's allowed us to get a decent fee, and he's gone to a non PL club which softens the blow considerably in my eyes, and more importantly it leaves him in a position to always be a Spurs hero, whereas leaving on a free and going to Utd for example wouldn't go down well with the majority of fans and would definitely tarnish his legacy. I see it as a move of convenience and compromise in order to protect his bond with Spurs......which if true (and i'm probably talking bollocks) begs the question why go.
