With the exception of playing Champions League football for a season (not insignificant) and winning a bundesliga, it’s actually hard to see what huge upside moving now has for Kane given he’s free to leave in a year and will be able to pick a Premier league or La Liga giant next year if he leaves.
Inferior league for rest of his prime career, personal upheaval, and less in signing on fees for the sake of 1 season seems odd.

I think Harry would rather us get a transfer fee, to be fair. The move doesn’t make a great deal of sense from a career/footballing perspective and hasn’t from the get go.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kyle Walker now not going there might also have had an influence of HK. The thought of going over there alone, with his wife staying in the UK for now, possibly seemed a bit easier if he thought he would have KW there with him and they could settle in together.

OK new plan - Make staying irresistible to Harry by bringing Walker back from Man City as the extra defensive cover we need & rub it in Bayern's face all in one!

Obviously salt 🧂 as always but very interesting update from @Trix (big thanks as always mate to you and the other ITK’s during this rollercoaster).

Sounds like it’s all a very complicated mess mostly because our squad is just too big so we are trying to juggle all at the same time:
•Squeezing Bayern for every penny
•Lining up 3 incomings without committing until the Kane deal is finally in place
•Trying desperately to move on a number of players because otherwise we will not be able to bring the 3 in for Kane money
•Meanwhile Kane and Kate are fretting because their next baby is due and they wanted this settled so potentially could be changing their mind on it either way so we are having to manage that whilst the above is all going on

Quite the puzzle 🧩 indeed.

IF we do end up selling him and shifting on a few then very interested to how our incomings pan out to make up for Kane going.

A ST and another CB would be 2 if the obvious 3 but then I wonder if the 3rd would be another CM or ideally a RW (but we’ve unfortunately not been linked with many of them so far).

Either way surely we get some proper movement on this today especially if the media are always a little behind and they’re saying we are still locked in talks with Bayern.

Imagine if this all ends up to Harry in a “sorry Harry we tried” 🤣🤣🤣 would be so ironic.

I hope the logistics get too much and he stays but also happy we are targeting 3 players to offset him going as it would need to be minimum that many because of what a huge impact he has overall.

I always find it strange when teams the size of Bayern who will have genuine ambitions, if not expectations of winning the Champions League next season would make an offer just 5 million short of the asking price. 5 mill is nothing to them. It's like they are trying to wind Levy up.

You don't get rich spending all your money ;) and they're also used to making derisory offers and then bullying teams in to accepting them.

Sounds like from Trix all this stuff is having the destabilising effect on Ange's prep and the squad overhaul that people thought. We either need Bayern to stump up or Kane to sign a year long extension with a release to put a proper end to this for the season.

Otherwise we're just going to have all this destabilising nonsense again in January (and speculation all through the season).

If we accept an offer but Kane rejects Bayern it would be so so funny. That German forehead guy would be inconsolable.

If you look at their list of record transfers it starts to make sense.

They're a massive club but they really don't spend big at all in the way that the other super clubs like United, Madrid and Barcelona do. They tend to get most of their star players by buying them young, on free transfers or by bullying other German clubs.

The fact they're even entertaining paying this type of fee is something they've never ever done before.

Hate to be that guy but whilst I agree that we started positive it's important to remember that these are only pre-season friendlies. I've supported this team long enough to know any "buzz" around pre-season, transfer dealings etc means very little.

Obviously Brentford is the real acid test but the game last night went much better than I expected. It's a real tricky game for us Sunday and a bad matchup stylistically.

Hard not to be impressed with the quick change in style. Clearly we need to refine it defensively in terms of tactics and personnel (starting to be addressed) so there'll be some bumps in the road. I really think we're on to something with him and the current squad we have.

Just out of curiosity and aside from the sadness loosing him would bring, but how would people feel if we hypothetically sold Kane and brought in Fati and Orban as attacking reinforcements? I know there’s also mention of Silva but I just struggle to see it regardless. I think Shuurs or someone similarly priced is just much more realistic regardless what happens to Kane.
