I’m fine with this, because Kane‘s future has been a distraction for several years and I’d rather not see him playing for another PL team. But nothing has changed under Enic and Levy. We are still selling our best player. We hope to excite here and there again, but ultimately we are set up to fail.

Panic-selling the best striker in the world and club icon the day before a new season starts because you’re worried he may or may not sign for United in a year?

Tell me you’re small-time without telling me you’re small-time.

Annoyingly, we’ve got to follow Arsenal’s blueprint now.

Buy a bunch of highly rated young players and hope they all click under the right manager.

They were miles off it only a few years ago.

9 figures for someone in the last year of his contract is obviously good business or whatever but my position has always been this: it's not my money, I've no control over what is done with it, and I've no confidence it'll be spent well, so why should I care?

I think one small consolation is just imagining how incredibly shit it would've been if he stayed and got injured.

No Kane, no 100m and then he fucks off to a PL rival on a free anyway. The absolute worst shit ever.

Kane isn't to be compared to them either, his conduct has been vastly different. Berbatov agitated for a move within minutes of arriving. We resisted selling Modric for like one summer. Bale leaving was an inevitability.

Kane could have gone to any club in the world as early as like 2017 and didn't agitate for a move for a long time, and even then he never did anything truly shitty like threaten to strike or bitch and moan about it in the press. I don't have a lot of time for Berbatov because he so clearly saw us as a stepping stone. It was never less than a transactional relationship.

The club has failed Kane. It hurts, but I'm angry at the club for wasting an all-time talent - not the player for wanting away from a club on a 4-year decline.
I don't hate the guy but I'm not re-writing history for him. He sorted deals with 2 different teams in the past few seasons, didn't turn up for training until his reputation started going to the dogs and was all the press talked about when he did a special interview with Gary Neville on sky sports.

I actually think that keeping his word is exactly what Levy’s done here. As much as that will be an unpopular opinion. And for all the assassination and belittling of his character (as opposed to the anger at his performance as a chairman) - I do think he’s said to Harry that if he gets the money he can go.

I think you have to respect that don’t you? Isn’t that what you’d want him to do?

(This in no way forgives the Mourinho and Conte episodes that brought us here - to be very fucking clear - and yes we shouldn’t be in the position, but we are and we can only surely judge this in the here and noe)
I was just using sarcasm to mask the pain tbh, not discussing the ins and outs of this particular saga.

And we probably could have kept him for this season, but Levy saw the money over the chance of maybe actually pushing for trophies this season.

€33m each across three positions gets us three more young hopeful signings. Not three first team players ready to take us up a level
So that’s a striker with a third of the player Kane was with a third of the goals he scored last season. Thank fuck we don’t have Conte or we’d never score again.

Best we could have hoped for. Probably never play against us.

Hopefully he comes back in a few seasons with lots of German (although tin pot trophies) and a champions league.

Spurs legend.

e.g Schuurs, Eze, Orban would give us one hell of a squad imo and add those to the other new signings, some players returning who look a lot better under Ange as well as a new style of play I think we can really do something 'whole greater than sum of its parts and all that' but I get where you're coming from at the same time.

This just tells me I’ll never learn my lesson.
The ghost (white) leaving us unexpectedly and the GREAT JG going to the spammers I will never get over. But Kane going to Bayern, I wish him well - as long as he doesn’t come back to the Manure after 12 months because his wife his homesick.
