I hope he wins the CL with Bayern. I really do.

In 20 years time he will be spoken of as a Tottenham great (he is now) and any future accomplishments would always read as 'Tottenham legend won CL' etc

He will be back at the club in some capacita whether it is just as a occasional spectator or regular guest on the pitch.

We should all look fondly at that.

Well, it's deffo a new era now for sure. Sonny will carry the torch for a few more years (I hope) but new horizons and all that.

All feels a bit mid 00s to me where we're good but against the top teams I have little hope, but I shall try and stay optimistic. My brain says a good system with the units working together can overcome the loss of a worldy but my shrivelled, blackened heart is weary.

Call me a cynic but I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell that this factors into it whatsoever. He's leaving because he's too good to be playing for a tinpot team which is what we have been for 4 years (and which I believe and hope we are now moving away from).

I agree he deserve a hero's welcome but rather because he's our greatest ever goalscorer.

Maybe he saw how fans at the club treat players who are deemed to have outstayed their welcome, like Lloris, and thought it would be better to bow out at his peak. ;)

I am worried about Son's form, I know he had an operation over the summer but he had little impact in pre-season even against a bunch of sailors

Yes I agree. Also thinks Sons frustration to his own dip in form last season is a bit concerning. He will be a feel good choice though.

Bentancur is my prefered choice.

I actually think the first 11 is pretty decent bar one more high quality CB. With Richy and Son we have CFs, plus Veliz and Scarlett as 3rd and 4th choice.

I would spend the Kane money on Tapsoba and Federico Redondo. Redondo will be world class, like his father and our midfield would be set for years. We can shift PEH on.

I think we've blatantly already spent the 'Kane money'.

But could have a decent wodge still to use IF we can actually shift a good volume of players out.

I think the narrative will be very different if that happens: Tottenham Legend who had to leave the club in order to win anything. As per Modric, As per Bale, etc etc.

So i don't care what he does elsewhere. All i want us to do is win a trophy. And win it before Kane gets one. So looking forward to February 25, 2024 already!

Pretty sure I did.

Surely you’re not that dense that you missed it? Please tell me you’re not that dense. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oopsy doodle.
Conveniently not even referring to your original post which I quoted. Clever boy.

I don't think the narrative around Modric and Bale was about leaving to win anything. Ronaldo left Man U to join Madrid. Courtois and Hazard left Chelsea to join Madrid. Madrid are just one of those clubs with massive pulling power that even clubs wich are regularly winning major trophies have struggled to hold onto their players when Madrid come calling.

But anyway, that's a different story. The narrative about Kane will be about winning trophies for the first season max. After that, no one will care less about him winning the Bundesliga, or the German Super Cup or whatever, it will all be about what Bayern do in the Champions League.

And, like I said the other day, last touch as one of our own, a goal. That, to a degree, is fairy tale ending.
Yeah, all things considered, beyond him retiring here or moving to Orient or the MLS in his late 30s this is about as good a departure as we were ever likely to get from Kane given how much we fucked the last 5 years.

Big fee to a foreign club after scoring a bagful in his final appearance for Spurs on a sunny afternoon at the stadium.

So gutted..
I’m actually numb to it all and can’t put my finger on why. It isn’t bothering me as much as I thought it would.
Don’t know if it’s because I’m well into my 40’s and seen it all before, whether it’s optimism that we might be OK with Ange and a new project or if it’s simply because I don’t care much any more as everything Spurs just always seems to be a shit show lately and I’m used to it.🤷‍♂️

In a meaningless friendly when no one knew he was leaving? Would have been nice for him to get a proper send-off.
