Some of the comments I’ve seen about him (including on here) have been quite shocking and fickle.

He’s been excellent for us since breaking through into the team and I think because he set such high standards he is now being judged on them as going through a slight lull.

Some fans have very short memories.

Harry who?

Well what a surprise that some fans are berating a young Spurs player.
Fucking disgusting..... I hope he doesn't take any notice of these types of posts.
He needs encouragement not what he's getting.
If you can't think of anything sensible, practical and maybe somewhat nicer don't bother FFS.

Two things stood out for me to highlight how bad defensively and offensively he was in that game, the obvious one was the 1st goal, rooted to the spot watching the ball come in with zero challenge for the ball, was this fear? Was he just hoping someone would do the work for him? 2nd one maybe less obvious but Alli done well to win back the ball on the right side edge of the box and does a quick 5 foot pass to winks who is more central, instead of Winks looking to his left, spreading the ball and us breaking he immediately passes back to Alli who is surrounded by 3 Man City players and again we’re on the back foot, he didn’t want the ball from Alli. These are the two that stood out the most but really he was just jogging about following the play and doing the safer pass over and over, was an extremely poor performance by him, had Sissoko done that people would be calling for him to be hung, drawn and quartered.

He wasn't any better or worse then anyone else in the pitch so it's odd people are targeting the least experienced player out there

Sissoko is 28 with 100's of top flight games behind him. Winks is a 21 year old in his first season as a recognised first 11 player. I really don't understand the comparison. Young players will have dips and inconsistent form, it comes with territory. Berating such a young kid is actually fucking disgusting.

Much more experienced players have had worse matches versus City and many more will in the future. Judging Winks on this performance alone is pretty ridiculous considering how well he's done so far.

Do you honestly think he looks at Spurs forums? Do you think any player does? I wouldn’t go near them if I was a player as there is fuck all to gain but plenty to lose. I’d honestly be surprised if the club don’t tell players to stay well clear of forums.

Harry will be fine. I think he’s coped really well in high pressure games before. Yesterday he struggled but then which of our players didn’t? He’s still very young and has missed a lot games through a bad injury since breaking into the first team. He will have learn”t something from that game

Don't give a shit if he reads this forum or not.
I'm not being site specific, he or his family/mates must use social media sites and I'm sure he's getting the same abuse on others. IMHO it's very detrimental to the lads confidence and may have an effect on his future career.
I know he should be able to take it etc but he's still a lad and who knows how much these sort of shit posts will have on him.

Winks had a poor game (so did most of our players ) but that doesn’t make him a poor player.

He’s a young player who’s had more better games than this and has a very bright future.

Even the best players in the world have off days.
Most of our more experienced players couldn’t handle the City juggernaut, so why is Winks being singled out .

Give him a break and hope Poch gives him a rest and rotate some players when available .

...not.good.enough...
...Mason and Bentaleb were better...Winks is more like Tom Carroll without the forward passing instincts...
...get rid ASAP...

Cant understand why you’d be so negative about one of our own youngsters who, prior to last couple of games where going through a sticky patch, has been rather jolly good for us?

It seems like your posts come with negative ratings by default.

...I calls 'em like I sees 'em...and I'm not trying to win a popularity contest in an online forum...
...even Mason (who was better) didn't get the miles of slack Winks gets from the fanboys...

Winks has played most of his games ahead of a back 3 or with a DM next to him. Against City he has neither of these and came up against the best side in the country. No great surprise he struggled.

I’ve seen some crap posts over the years on here. This takes the biscuit though.

Quite simply we are missing Wanyama. At such a young age Winks needs regular rests and time out of the spotlight. We have really suffered in CM this year with Wanyama and Dembele’s injuries, and Dier covering at CB. Coupled with Eriksen and Alli’s loss of form it’s put a heavy burden on Harry Winks.

And yet, for a lot of the time he has been outstanding, particularly in the CL. We are very luck he’s one of our own. ;)
