He got a footballing education today, but so did our entire squad including our manager. Think they all will be better for it.

Winks isn’t in the same boat as Dele or Dier. He’s done very well this season but has hit rough patch just like most of the squad. As others have said Winks is unfortunately is a sink or swim situation and not all down to his own doing. We simply don’t have an alternative player so he’s going to have to dig deep and pull himself through his dip in form.

Dele and Dier on the other hand, best friends but the terrible twosome at the moment. Dele acts like Billy big bollocks and needs an almighty slap and bringing back down to Earth. Dier, wtf is going on there? He acts like a spoilt brat and switches off as and when he feels like it. Could this be down to Walker’s revelation that Dier pushed for a move to Manure and was told he wasn’t going anywhere? When Wanyama and Toby are back, Dele and Dier will be benched and let’s face, that’s where they belong at this moment in time.

Or they might just be in bad form just like Winks and Eriksen too. We used to love Dele's attitude, applauding him unnecessarily nutmegging players, he does a BT ad and gets a new agent and he's some problem child. He's in shit form just like we are as a team, including the manager, in the league this season. That's all it is in my opinion.

Who's actually had a great season in the league so far? Kane is Kane but he's not fit right now, Son maybe he's forcing self into team and proving point, beyond that I'm not sure anyone. Feel like 5/6 of starting 11 look shadows of last season.

Yeah he was swimming in the deep end today and drowning. I felt sorry for him. Dembele was awful. And without a disciplined defensive mid in there we were always up against it. Although with our lack of squad options i'm not sure what more Poch could have done. I certainly wouln't have played sissoko in a two.

Yeah - I would not have used him in a two - I would have set up in a 433 - with Dembele deep, and Erisken and Sissoko playing in front of Dembele - and used Sissoko as an outlet to spring counter-attacks on the right side.

Surprisingly he had our best pass completion 94%. I think it was more getting caught with the ball than misplaced passes.

The love for him on this forum is over the top IMO but I've always say on the fence. A very tidy player but not very forward thinking. He likes a sideways and back pass which keeps his passing stats up.

Not sure if he will take his game up a few levels or become another Mason/Carroll/Livermore

He's a young player that's not playing as well at he moment as he usually does. Seems like a confidence thing, seeing as he's not trying line breaking passes or the more difficult ones.

Still a great player that will get back into his usual level sooner or later. And quite frankly, some of the utter virgins giving him abuse and booing him don't deserve him.

Could be very likely Poch wanted him to opt for the "simple passes" given how quickly City turn misplaced passes into a dangerous counter attack.

He's generally smart with the ball, and at times could be more adventurous, but I don't think today was the game for him to try to ping around hopeful passes.

Welli mean, he couldnt even control the ball today. That was just the worst performance in a string of very poor perfomances from him.

At his best, hes a very tidy and extremely safe player. But he has got to be more adventurous when is at his best.

To be fair Tom Carroll done the exactly the same kind of performance against city 2 weeks ago.... we over hyped him and look where that got us and I personally think we have just jumped the gun on winksy yes he passes and moves and keeps the ball moving but suddenly the last few games he’s stopped going forward it’s weird.

Winks is young we need to remember he’s going to have poor games, but it’s weird to see him suddenly start hiding is he injured or is poch instructing him to do this?

To be fair he’s 21 and Eriksen and co should be taking the creative burden but we are expecting Harry to do it. Think the constant sighs at him have maybe shook him.

But to be honest least Carroll was brave on the ball tried to move the ball at tempo against city it’s a shame we don’t still have him as a squad player

In fact I would love to see a Winks and Carroll midfield with someone like Wanyama there would at least make us play with tempo

Sorry,

He's had a run in the team, ive barely heard his name mentioned, 0 impact player right now. If you watch replays for two of the goals hes near the ball but simply watching play unfold and rooted to the spot hes on.

When he first burst on the scene he reminded me of Parker, quick combative and used it well.

He's lost a yard, probably tiredness, has been exposed as horribly one footed and lacks either the vision execution or bravery to hit a penetrating pass.

But it's Pochs fault, or Demebeles, or global warming.

We all love an academy breakthrough, but let's be objective eh.

I don't sign in often after matches we've lost and I'm bloody glad I don't. There are some simply awful 'fans' on here who just expect perfection to be served up on a plate every game. Piss off and support City - you don't realise how lucky we are to have young Harry Winks in our side. The team of the 90s would have been crying out for a player like him.

His confidence has taken a bit of a knock, he was under the cosh against a world-class midfield - he'll learn and get better.

He could do with sitting a couple out and then being eased back in maybe?

His confidence fell away as the Brighton game unfolded where he wasn’t on it at all. Suddenly everything was backwards and sideways, and it carried on yesterday where it was obviously highlighted a lot more because of the opposition.

No way is he Tom Carroll though. Some nonsense being spouted about him lately. Winks, when confident, is a positive player who looks to go forward when the chance is there 100%

Some of the comments I’ve seen about him (including on here) have been quite shocking and fickle.

He’s been excellent for us since breaking through into the team and I think because he set such high standards he is now being judged on them as going through a slight lull.

Some fans have very short memories.
