We all wanted him to do well though he has not improved and we have more hunger and ambition that we can't accommodate his level.
I remember the win at Wembley against Real Madrid and he fucking held his own. However since then just a downward trajectory.
He always offers fuck all to inspire when losing and would rather one of the younger players get given a go.
For me him and Ndombele fall into the same category of shit we need to get rid of before next season.

Winks is this strange footballer that doesn’t really offer a team anything. His defensive and attacking qualities are largely ineffective at this level. He can’t anchor midfield, his passing is limited at best. He has no physical presence and lacks any kind of leadership skills. I don’t think he’s Premier quality at all and I’d be surprised he is signed to any team in the league in the next window unless Everton survive the drop and fancy continuing their fuckwitted transfer strategy

For me he’s just so passive, doesn’t try to impose himself, running alongside or even away from opponents. When he first came into the team he was much more aggressive, both with & without the ball, as others have said the injury seems to have affected him as he’s never been the same since.

I don't exaggerate when I say he's about as good as Tom Carroll. No disrespect meant, Tom has had a solid career. But Winks is not a premier league quality player imo.

I mean that literally means nothing. Conte was never going to change the entire midfield and get rid of Winks, GLC and Ndombele in the January window, it's just not feasible. Plus do we even know that Winks had any takers? No. We know that teams were in for Ndombele and GLC so they left, we also had the foreign players limit to consider which works in Winks favour.

There are loads of reasons why Conte has kept Winks around, and the unlikely one is because Conte actually rates him. I would be gobsmacked if Winks is still here in September.

I suspect the only reason why he is still in the squad is the fact he is English.

He should be converted to a Championship level right back.

You’re bang on, as a CM at PL level he really offers nothing, similar in a way to how as Dele had declined he started to also offer very little.

Both will drift down the leagues imo or at best will stay in mid to lower end PL teams as squad players.

It does make you wonder what he's been doing in training all these years.

As a professional footballer with a certain level of talent, you would have thought he'd consciously think to himself, "this is the footballer I want to be; these are the things I'm going to have to work hard at to achieve that play-style".

Most deficiencies can be significantly improved upon given a training regime and time.

I think he's coasting, lost motivation and lacks courage; his performance in the League Cup final vs Man City sums this up tbh.

Taken from Harry Hotspur:

"Harry Winks has played 200 games for Spurs. He has 5 goals/6 assists. Less than 1 goal or assist a season"
Shadydan once upon the time had the nerve to argue with me that Winks was a "play maker"...

Mindblowing. A few posts down he compares Winks play style to Modric, and then mentions Jorginho and Carrick. Hahaha.

Ah man. Some of the takes on Winks even back then where insane. It was always the case that he was less than average as a player. The most overhyped academy player I can ever remember playing for Spurs. As far as I am concerned he is at best the same level as Carroll, O'Hara and the like, but those guys never got the opportunities and hype that Winks received.

Player like Tom Huddlestone was twice the player Winks ever was, now that guy had technique and passes in his locker, a shame he was so slow. He could strike a ball. Winks isn't fit to lace Huddlestone's boots but many fans would say big Tom was never good enough ultimately.

Anyway it's quite funny to look back and see how wrong some people had it.

lt is really time for him to move on.
Last year he wanted to fight for but place to see Skipp and Bentancur surpass him.
Another signing he'll fall further behind in the pecking order.
Get a fee, another wage off the books and someone in who will improve us.

Feel sorry for him, was a real prospect till that freak injury.
Think he needs to move on, but unfortunately for him it will probably be to an inferior club. Wish him well wherever he goes
