Unbelievably shit luck for the kid and us. I think we needed what he brings. Hopefully Poch has the courage to introduce Onomah and not fuck about with changing formation or playing Sissoko or Dier as CM's.

He was literally becoming Poch's 12th or 13th man in every game, bad luck for that to happen in a game where he actually got a start. Will give a chance for Onomah, GKN or Edwards to be on the bench for the remainder.

Good chance it will be Dembele and Wanyama though, as it has been all season. If either of the big men needs to come off then I'd hope Onomah could step up. If not I'd have more trust in Dier - not sure if that's best for the defence though.

It might be a fracture to his balls, Spurs will never tell us the truth anymore.

Let's just hope he's back for pre season in 3 months.

Said at the time it happened that it was a replica of Jan's injury, both in how he did it, and what the likely result would be...

Yeah, I assume that will be the starting pair, and I'm Ok with that, but I want Onomah as 3rd choice now, if either of those two are out I don't want us switching formation from the CB3 trio of Dier/TA/JV and pushing Dier up to CM.

You want Onomah over Dier in midfield? K...

I'd rather keep the formation we've been playing really well in, and alter as few players as possible from it. Moving Dier from midfield moves two players, and regardless if he's more reliable than Onomah, him and Wanyama in midfield creates turgid football. Id' rather we go Onomah in CM as back up Wanyama and Demebele. Poch has kept him around for a reason no? It's not like he has never played in the PL before. He debuted against Burnely at 17 and more than held his own there. Just because he doesn't look good on the wings asking him to do unfamiliar things, doesn't mean he can't play in CM. Bare in mind he hasn't ever done anything bad, or caused us to lose even when out of position he just hasn't looked good. So he'd only look better in CM

Haven't seen anything from Onomah this season to suggest he should be any higher than the bench. Looked OK'ish last season but looked like he'd gone backwards when he got any pitch time this season.

Think he will be off in the Summer personally.

We played with that exact formation against Burnley in the 2nd half and looked settled and by all accounts we know what the combo of Dier and Dembele can do as we saw last season. Look I don't have a problem with wanting Onomah to step up and play, I actually would pick him over Sissoko right now but to completely ignore a tried and tested formula which was a majojr success last season at such a key time of the season for us doesn't make any sense besides there isn't any reason to move from 3 at the back if Dembele and Wanyama are on the pitch but if Wanyama doesn't play then the next logical change would be to go back to a four and push Dier back into midfield where he is better anyway.

In the 3421 if the other player is Wanyama or Dembele, definitely. As much because I want to preserve the 3421 - as I think we are so much better in that format - as I want a more dynamic and proactive player with a more risk averse one, which is also true. With a Wanyama or Dembele in there I really do not think he will be a liability.

Hell of a blow for Harry and for the team now that it's been confirmed that the ankle ligament injury will keep him out for the rest of the season. He has a fine career ahead of him and we can look forward to him playing regularly next season.

Tell me why Dier and Wanyama couldn’t work in a 3421 seeing as Eriksen is the one that drops back and helps recycle the ball and takes the responsibilities off the two holding mids anyway?

Even if you move Dier out of defence you could replace him with CCV or Wimmer anyway.

That's my thinking, too. Bring Wimmer in, and move Dier forward. I'm not batshit about the idea but Poch isn't one for taking big risks when it comes to selection matters, and playing Onomah in the middle of the park at this moment would be borderline reckless.

Well I doubt it would be Wimmer as he will want a right footed player as the RCB and I do not think he will want to take Toby from the center of those three. Not sure if CCV is ready to step in. He may be but we have not really seen it as of yet.

A lot depends on who we are playing but would rather see a 4-2-3-1 with Dier / Dembele in the center if Wanyama cannot play. If Dembele cannot go or needs a rest, maybe a Wanyama/Eriksen pairing with Son and Dele behind Kane or Jansen would work.

Jan in the centre can do a brilliant job, you'd hardly see a drop off if you moved Toby out and put Jan there tbh.

Ultimately though it comes down to CCV vs Onomah if you don't want to move Toby from the centre but I think Poch trusts CCV more over Josh.
