Jan in the centre can do a brilliant job, you'd hardly see a drop off if you moved Toby out and put Jan there tbh.

Ultimately though it comes down to CCV vs Onomah if you don't want to move Toby from the centre but I think Poch trusts CCV more over Josh.
Agree think it solely comes down to who has been impressing more in training between CCV and Onomah. I'd be surprised if Wimmer gets the games since he's probably already half way out the door.

Well I doubt it would be Wimmer as he will want a right footed player as the RCB and I do not think he will want to take Toby from the center of those three. Not sure if CCV is ready to step in. He may be but we have not really seen it as of yet.

A lot depends on who we are playing but would rather see a 4-2-3-1 with Dier / Dembele in the center if Wanyama cannot play. If Dembele cannot go or needs a rest, maybe a Wanyama/Eriksen pairing with Son and Dele behind Kane or Jansen would work.

We've played 3 at the back before with Wimmer in the middle and Toby and Jan each side.

Tell me why Dier and Wanyama couldn’t work in a 3421 seeing as Eriksen is the one that drops back and helps recycle the ball and takes the responsibilities off the two holding mids anyway?

Even if you move Dier out of defence you could replace him with CCV or Wimmer anyway.

For one, I really like Onomah, I think with an insurance man next to him he'd be a plus, bring something that we need, not two bulldozers sitting there next to each other taking it turns not to take any risk. We saw Dier and Wanyama together, it was fucking turgid.

For two, you're saying playing CCV at CB would be more viable and less of a risk than playing Onomah in CM ? I think that's crazy logic. You make a mistake in midfield you are usually covered, there's usually at least one line of defence behind you, you make a mistake at the back and it's far more likely to be fatal (as Dier has found out this season - he's a young kid who's made mistakes in both positions, but has found making them at CB a lot less forgiving).

Agreed!

The first few times we played with three CBs (e.g. against Watford last season), Dier played in the centre and Toby on the right.

Yeah we saw Dier and Wanyama play together in a 4231, not a 3421 though...the latter formation meaning that their remits are slightly different. It just means that the responsibility to create chances and keep continually recycling the ball doesn't fall on them, rather Eriksen.

I don't see why you couldn't play CCV against the likes of Watford and Bournemouth, let's face it Dier hasn't had his best season in defence and had made some errors and we'be stI'll been comfortable , can't really see CCV doing any worse can you? As much as I like Josh I'm. not sure I can trust him to carry out such a role yet, more importantly I'm not sure if Poch trusts him.

BALAGUE: I WOULD LOVE TOTTENHAM MIDFIELD ACADEMY PRODUCT TO JOIN BARCELONA, HE WILL BE A STAR

Balague revealed that he does not expect the Spurs academy product to leave the club in the near future, but named the midfielder as the one player he would like to see join the two La Liga giants.

“If this is a question of preference rather than likelihood then I would like to see a player like Harry Winks in La Liga, where he would be challenged in a different ways,” Balague said, as quoted by Sky Sports Transfer Centre (Friday, 1.58pm).

“He has the makings of a top midfielder. I know he will play a lot at Spurs and won’t go but I would love to see him at Barcelona or Real Madrid, even though he will be a key feature at Spurs for years to come.”

Tottenham’s number 29 has burst onto the scene in the middle of the park and is known for his driving runs from deep, array of passing and willingness to put his body on the line.

The Mirror claimed last month that Barcelona were keen on another Spurs midfielder in Christian Eriksen, while Spanish outlet DiarioGol claim Barca and Real want Dele Alli.

However, Sky Sports pundit Balague claimed he would like to see Winks in Spain more so than the likes of Eriksen, Alli or any other of Spurs’ stars.

I don't think he'll ever be the goal threat that he is, but there's a touch of Radja Nainggolan about how Harry Winks plays. In terms of the goal scoring, that's probably got a lot to do with how much freedom Radja has to get forward for Roma. But, that quick turn of pace, how the ball sticks to his feet, the ability to strike the ball with both feet, to distribute quickly. the tenacity off the ball and just the way they look while on the ball. I see a lot of similarities, personally.
