Livermore or Chalobah are DM's. Winks wont be competing with them

Delph, I cant explain

TBH winks should be there ahead of Oxlade chamberlain

But winks has struggled with fitness

Also Winks rejected a call up to the U21's as we saw with Dier that meant he wasnt called up for the summer tournament

Aren't they all DMs? The way the squad is listed AOC is listed as a winger, rather than a CM. I get that Winks has had his fitness issues and it's understandable that he's not in this squad. But once he's playing any minutes in the league, surely he's got to be there. He offers something none of the others do.

if he becomes a full time rotation player (think Sissoko) for us I can see it coming. I love the way he plays and hope he starts getting the game time. The worry (for him) is that Barkley will replace him in the pecking order.

Once he does get into the eng squad, the frustration will be seeing Henderson starting ahead of him purely because he's pool captain

Like Modric, I could watch Winks all night long.
Understated but very effective and is the perfect link moving the ball between defence and attack quickly.
Against bus parkers this kid is the ideal solution.

Harry Winks vs APOEL

Missed quite a bit of the first half of this game, he really did play well. I hate to say it but it is against Apoel but if he can bring that to the PL, he will be quality for us. I love that he has kept the same features of play from his academy days. Though the Parker spin I believe is relatively new. I feel I would have noticed him doing it. Either way he uses it well, and I feel with purpose. So pleased for him, really hope he starts getting those PL games now

if we think about recent midfielders through the academy: Nabil, Ryan, Tommy....Harry seems like the best so far.
thoughts @spurs9 @WindyCOYS @IGSpur ?
IMO, Onomah is best for raw potential/highest ceiling, but Winks offers the skill set we most need/most useful.

Edit: though Onomah hasn't made a fist team appearance in CM.

Harry Winks vs APOEL

I see more and more of Modric in Winks. From the way he picks the ball up deep, manipulates the ball, turns and keeps the ball moving. He can be the brains of the team which will then free up Eriksen to focus on the creativity side

I'm pretty sure that it was Winks that Redknapp and Sherwood used to take any visitor to training to go watch. He's been very highly thought of for an awfully long time. I have no doubts he'll make it with us, and with England.

I love the speed at which he passes. Really dictates the tempo through his speed and range of passing.

Personally I could always see Winks fitting at our club and in midfield. I've struggled to see it with onomah but really hope he makes it with us too

This. I really think that's what we've missed this season. When the opposition sit back it'll really help, I don't think it's at all pace that we've missed but tempo.
